Tears of Blood I Cry this Night

Tears of blood I cry this night,
Tears of sorrow, of crimson fright,
As I remember the thundering roar,
Of bayonets clashing, and a bullet soar,
Of men yelling, and a receding shore.

Tears of blood I cry this night,
A night of terror as soldiers fight,
Against their wrong, for their right.
Whether it be slavery, or the right to be free,
The latter being the cause for me,
We all have a reason, some righteous cause,
To risk so much, even life’s loss.

Tears of blood I cry this night,
Tears of crimson that blind my sight,
As death spreads his wings for flight.
I close my eyes, there’s no where to run,
Goodbye, my loved ones. My time has come.

Kay: Basically, my English teacher wanted us to write a poem with a Civil War theme, and this is what came out of my head. I hope you like it.
