You open your eyes,
And everyday you awake with the constant void.
You surge and purify yourself of the troubles from the
night before.
Walking out into the rising sun,
You breathe in the morning rawness to unbind the
tension,
See the same people and greet them with the same spoiled
face.
And continue your never-changing route through the days.
Your body aches when you hear screeches of amusement.
Children jubilant and free squandering through the days,
Wishing to hurry and grow up, thinking they might be
able to “live” a little.
You grin and stare as your heart sinks.
They give awkward glances as they pay no attention,
And you remember when all was blissful.
Lower your head; dispirited.
Sigh.
Then gaze up at the sky and thank God you’re alive.
All you did and got away with,
And all they did too.
Attempt to smile.
Wipe away that black spot in the back of your mind.
Reflecting upon what could’ve been.
It’s not worth the anguish.
Take the time that he gave you to get through the days.
Swear that all at once you’ll know yourself as
“Beautiful.”
Recognize the air you still can breathe
And embrace the fact that you can see,
All the world has given you:
Pain
Pleasure
Confusion
Despair
Happiness
Sanity
