Chapter 9
(Astrid & Julie)
I was walking back to my lunch table after pummeling a guy, when I heard the most annoying laugh. It sounded like nails to a chalkboard. I cringed when I met the gaze of Julie, Chris’s ex-girlfriend. “So you’re the hyena?” I muttered to her.
“I was just laughing at your little fits.” Julie stated with the most unbelievably fake smile. “I have a number of a therapist I think you could benefit from speaking to. Violence is not the answer to everything.” Julie cackled.
“No violence is only for the important things.” I said to her as I tore into some chocolate pudding, “Watch yourself, Julie, I don’t think you would benefit from angering me.” I said in my iciest voice.
“So what was your coven like in Kansas? Chris asked obviously trying to lessen the tension.
“Nothing much they were really just basic textbook. You know nature, God and Goddess. Great people.” I told him while I picked at my mashed potatoes. He has really nice eyes. I thought to myself. Julie got up looking completely disgusted and went to talk to someone else while Chris and his friends just shook their heads.
“She hates you.” laughed Rachel. I jumped a bit when she said this because I forgot her and Deric were there. They had sort of been in they’re own little world.
“Oh, yeah I couldn’t tell.” I joked with them.
“She is just pissed about losing Chris here and about losing position of star witch. She’s pretty good you know.” Rachel whispered I a warning tone.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if she tries a curse or two on you,” Chris said with a sigh “She is a vindictive Bitch.”
“Bitch doesn’t even begin to describe her.” Deric chuckled.
“So why is she still in the coven? I mean her negative energy can’t be good for circles.” I asked them.
“Because with her, and you, we have thirteen.” Chris said.
“So isn’t there another Wiccan in this school?” I asked them.
“Well there is another one but it’s Justin and he’s a solitary witch.” Chris mentioned with wary eyes as if I might attack.
“Well actually Chris, I did feel another pretty strong aura. I’m sure the person is a witch probably new to it, but strong.” Deric divulged.
“Any chance she’s blond and preppy?” I asked him.
“She’s blond but what does preppy mean?” he asked me in return.
“Bitchy.” Chris and I said in unison. I looked up and our eyes met. I couldn’t help but smile at those pools of silver blue.
“Sounds like her.” Deric replied.
“Well that is Astid’s sister. She has Wicca in her but she is freaked out by it. Trust me she is not interested.” Chris said with a smile as he stood up. “That will be the bell. See you guys later.” He said as he headed to his next class. Then I headed off to stupid History. “I so don’t get why we study history I muttered to my self.
