Tainted Mariá

O Virgin Mariá,

at least, until

she was pregnant with the Son.

She prays to the deity

in the Church of Angels

and is unheard.

She injects her sweet happiness

into her blood,

and remembers her heroine,

Sainta Christa.

This is the closest to God's happiness,

now, before the breathing stops.

Do this in remembrance of me.

Sleeping Mariá,

lying before the Cross.

Awoken by the soft kick

of the Messiah.

She has sacrifice too.

She prays to Sainta Christa

not Christ.

For she knows now,

that no good can come from man.

Avé Tainted Mariá,

Unpure in body

but not in heart

or soul.

To communion again

but only in the quiet of her room.

The sweetness again!

O praise!

Cherubim, Seraphim

and Septicaemia.

It is the purest communion yet.

The breathing slows.

the heart almost stops,

and she feels the young Christ

die

inside of her.

And now the wrist's bleed

Christ's blood.

And the once-Virgin's tears

pour down.

The sacrifice of three.

O Virgin Mariá,

Who lived and died in fear.

She took Christ with her

knowing the cruelness

that man had forced upon her.

And now she is one

in the black void

of her death.

On the third day

they had forgotten.

She did not ascend to heaven.

God, too, does not forgive

girls who don't obey,

but he will take

his pleasure in them still.

As it was in the beginning,

And was for her,

And will it be for another?

Avé to the tainted martyr.

O Sainta Mariá.

Amen.

Ok if you didn't figure out what it was about (bad poet slaps wrist)

It's about a modern-day Virgin Mary. It's firstly a bit of an assault on Christianity. To some extent Mary was raped. And although the Bible said she was happy to be the mother of God, we know they like to miss bits out. So I was thinking, what if she felt her life had been stolen from her? What happened when her village found out she was pregnant but not married? No one will believe he's the son of God, so Mary will have to take the blame being called a slut or a whore and probably cast out by her family until she sorts this business out (marries Joseph).

Anyway, I went with this idea but put it in a modern context. So Mary becomes Mariá who's a depressed drug addict, Heroin, hence all the injecting/Septicaemia references. She's been raped by 'God' (all men think they are Gods) and is now pregnant with no hopes because no one will help her. (She's just another slutty addict to them). So, rejected by society and used by man she just doesn't want to go on. She takes her "holy communion" and overdoses and dies and the world forgets her. The last few lines are kind of there to remind us that this happens all the time. She represents these girls everywhere.

I'm not sure if I managed to convey that at all. If you didn't get it first time through, please go back and re-read and see if it makes any more sense. And if you could leave a comment that would be great.

Thanks for your time.
