“Wouldn’t public education be better because it has so many more classes” I said to my friend.
“But they brainwash people” she responded, looking forward.
“No they don’t. Brainwash? How so?”
“They teach evolution.”
I didn’t look at her. She was a nice girl. Good looking. Simple. A woman.
“I don’t think teaching is brainwashing.”
“Evolution is illogical. I can prove it. It was created by Satan to keep people from believe in Him.”
She told me about her understanding of physics and said that there is no way for planets to spin in opposite directions. I stayed quite while moving about, trying to understand her view.
“It’s not impossible for people to be creationist and believe in evolution.”
“That’s because they’ve been brainwashed.”
I bit my tongue.
“Since science doesn’t prove it then, how is creationism explained?”
She licked her lips.
“By the bible.”
“But wasn’t written by men for men?”
“It’s the word of God.”
“I can’t believe in God. I doubted His existence since I was a child.”
“I’ve believe in him before then.”
“You’re logic is based in circular reason and leaps of faith and nothing solid.”
I hit her heart. Her life, her purpose. Her shield.
“Have you ever read the bible?”
She tugged at the ropes.
“No, I have not.”
I wanted more.
“Have you tried believing? Actually trying?”
She didn’t know what she wanted.
“Yes.”
I bit her hand
“…”, She looked forward again, “I can’t say any more.”
Then I liked her finger.
