The Insanity that is Life

By Alicia Koeb

And he leaves,

Shards of the broken heart lie in the broken corder of memories,

Shining with a last dieing hope in the fading light.

Forever dieing…

Forever dieing…

There are thousands of people living inside of my head, fighting for control.

Scattered personalities who anticipate the fall of their betters, using devious ways to shove others off their shining pedestals.

Wrong is always right and right is always left.

Broken hearts never heal easily.

There’s a candle waiting in the window of my heart, wanting for the one to notice it and join.

Winds tear apart the weary traveler,

Time doesn’t stop for a single death.

Maybe tomorrow will never come,

Today is never over.

There are thousands of twisting thoughts that fill my head, overflowing it with dreary confessions of untold sins.

The bird always flies on,

The dead sometimes rise.

A new beginning is all we can hope for.
