He stood alone on a cold empty street

What he had done was now bittersweet

He'd given them something to use as they would

But they hadn't used it for their own good

Tell me why he sighs

The rain fell down as he pressed on ahead

Back to his empty house and his bed

The world would know what they had done

Many days from now under the sun

Tell me why he cries

Silently, softly, sorrowfully he walks

They just wouldn't listen when he'd tried to talk

He'd put the weapon into their hands

He hadn't fought against their demands

Tell me why he tries

The tears of God like boiling water fall

Onto street lights-lost souls who always call

He joins them there on that cold street

And the final end is bittersweet

Tell me why he dies
