Author’s Note

Dear Reader,

I’m posting this note in order to alert you to the fact that I am taking a short break. I have finally realized something that I should have known all along.

When I start writing a story, I usually just sit down at my computer and just start typing. It begins well enough, but then gradually, my writing skill deteriorates as I run out of coherent ideas that can be strung together to form something recognizable as a plot. This always happens. This story, Rose, has lasted longer than any others, but alas! That time has arrived…

Like anyone, there are authors whom I admire for their collected works. Whenever asked to give advice for aspiring writers, their advice, to my chagrin, has always been to plan, plan, plan. This is the same thing that my teachers told me in school, but it only impacted me when I heard it from accomplished authors whom I look up to.

So, following the advice of greatness, I have decided to set aside my youthful impatience and to try and plan the hell out of this thing. I like this story and do not want it to fall apart from lack of interest or trying. I do have an idea of where it is going; I have some key scenes and events in my head; it’s tying them all together into a good plotline that is the trouble. That’s where a plan comes in handy.

Therefore, to end an already too long story, I’m going to take a couple of weeks (at least) off from any actual writing. This time will be spent making outlines and figuring out the beginning, middle, and end. Do not lose patience with me, because I fully intend to continue writing this story after the planning phase is done to my satisfaction. So keep me on your author alerts list and happy reading!

Aniala
