Of joy and sorrow, a tear
I put on my dark sunglasses
And look into the warm and breezy night
All alone I stroll and see
Two people at the cemet’ry
Before the headstones, standing, talking quiet
Our windows down, hair blown aside
We throw our fits and smoke and sing and dance
Into the wind the music blares
Pedestrians just turn and stare
And shake their heads at our irreverence
Thus each and every year we meet
Remembering one lost who was so dear
When street noise our attention guides
To solitary figure hides
Behind his shades to try and mask a tear
Lay waste to hearts, themselves and roam
The streets they built so death can faster travel
Into the night, until the dawn
I fly and cast my eyes upon
A force that threatens to my world unravel
Who’d buy and sell the tears of fools
They make the oceans cry and sky to fall
And for their efforts tireless
I see behind my darkened glass
That human kindness balances them all
