Chapter 1 The Graduation begins, with or without Kimi

A/N this story began originally as a character description for my short stories class, I hope that you enjoy it... Please read and review for me!!!!!!!!!!

Kimi was a bright young girl, she always managed to stay at the top of her class no matter what troubles came her way. She had an air about her that turned heads and caused others to mistake her for royalty. Her long thick lavender hair was thrown back in a careless bun. Kimi's eyes shined a lovely shade of blue, and more often than not gleamed with mischief. Her small body was well built and muscular, though she rarely wore anything that hugged her body enough to show it off. Her loose, dark clothing was good for two things: they always gave her a frail appearance, causing others to misjudge her power greatly, a mistake that could cost one their life. Her clothes were also well suited to keep her hidden when the need arose. Kimi was able to wield many weapons, though there were three that she prefered above all others: sais, spears, and her personal favorite: the kitana. Anybody watching her train would agree- however grudgingly- that her speed and skills were exceptional for one so young. Her eyes remained haunted, remembering the battles of which she had been witness to and fought during over the past two years. The coming day was the day that she had awaited for such a long time- the day in which she was to graduate from Erif Acadamy, the place in which she had been taught to fight, given the battle skills that she needed in life, and allowed her to practice in the use of her magics.

Around two in the morning she was awoken by a strange sound by her bed, the sound of footsteps movig closer to her prone form, "Who's there?" She called angrily, sitting up, "why are you here?"

The sound of shallow, wheezey breath caused the hairs on her arms to raise, "Kimi Tanaka?" The voice was right next to her ear, however, whenever Kimi attempted to strike the owner of the voice her fist merely came in contact with air.

"What of it?" She snarled, reaching over the side of her bed silently, reaching for her kitana.

Her fingers were suddenly crushed beneath a large foot, "Now now, we don't want to do that, now do we?" The voice chuckled, "I am to bring you to Master Tanaka."

"The fuck you are!" Kimi yanked her fingers from beneath the boot, suppressing a yelp of pain as the skin tore.

"Tsk tsk... and to think, Master Tanaka said that you were a well behaved little bitch." The voice sneered in a normal tone, allowing Kimi to note that the voice was masculine, "and here I didn't think there would be a struggle, after all, you are just a girl."

Kimi felt her cheeks flush with anger and she leapt at the now apparent shadow which disappeared as soon as she had leapt, "I already told him that I would not go, I am not going to use my abilities for his cause so just get the hell out of my room." She clenched her fists and grasped the kitana, pulling it out of it's scabbard in an instant.

"Oh, come on, I don't feel like fighting this evening." The man sounded exasperated, almost as though his skills were to good for her to be able to keep up with.

"I am not going with my father, now just leave." She took up a fighting stance and waited for him to make his move.

When he finally did however, his movements were so swift that she hardly had time to block his attacks, let alone take the offensive. She felt his fist bury itself into the pit of her stomache before she was thrown across the room, landing in a breathless heap, "Bastard!" She growled, pulling herself to her feet.

Her fingers snaked towards her lightswitch and for an instant the room was awash with light, before the bulb was shattered. Kimi had caught a brief glimpse of the figure she was figting, he was muscular and yet his body was small, allowing for necessary speed. "That was unfair." He said in a soft voice, "the light is unnecessary and could cause others to come to this room, we wouldn't want that now would we?"

Kimi's response was a rage filled growl before she ran across the glass, hardly taking notice as her feet were lacerated and began to bleed profusely. "Oh now come on, Master Tanaka wanted you uncut!" He said in exasperation.

"Well, Master Tanaka can kiss my ass." Kimi spat, "I disowned him when I was little, he is no longer in my life."

"Oh, but you see, he's been with you for a long time... always keeping an eye on you as you grew up, and I must say you were one rambunscious child. Always rushing into battle and whatnot... I was rather impressed that you ever made it out with hardly more than a few scratches." His voice was right in her ear, and caused Kimi to shiver.

"You know nothing about me!" Kimi struck out with her fist and caught the surprised man in the jaw.

"Ouch, that really hurt you know." Kimi could almost see him standing before her and rubbing his jaw, "I really didn't want to use this, but you see you've left me no choice."

"Use what?" Kimi could hardly stop herself, her curiousity was her curse.

"This-" There was suddenly an unfamiliar weight around her neck, and it seemed to be draining the energy from her body, "oh... and Master Tanaka wanted me to allow you to watch the graduation, although you won't actually be there..."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Kimi felt herself sink to her knees as the words tumbled thickly from her mouth.

"It means that we will be watching from the ceiling... well, at least you will, these things bore me..." He hoisted Kimi onto his shoulder, "In fact, why don't we get you up there now?"

"Let go!" Kimi's voice was softer than it had ever been and she was very frustrated as she felt herself being moved into the hallway.

Before long they were in the presentation room and Kimi was suddenly in the air, held tightly by the man. And moments after that she was stuck to the ceiling, her body bound to it by the man's magic. Her mouth seemed to be glued shut and her steely gaze fell onto that of the man's. tata, have fun, I'll be back tonight." He seemed to be cheerful as he moved away from her helpless form.

Soon after the sun rose, and the room began to fill with students garbed in their various armors, signifying their class ranks. Her own was residing in her bedroom, useless to her now. Eventually the grand master, Roku Watashi stepped up to the podium and cleared his throat, "I apologize for the wait ladies and gentlemen, but it appears that one of our students have dissappeared. If any of you have information on where Miss Kimi Tanaka might be, please inform the staff."

A murmur of dissapproval raced through the class as the name of the top student was spoken, "Oh, just get on with the graduation, no doubt she thinks that she is to good to graduate with us and has decided to skip the graduation."

A murmur of agreement raced through the masses and Roku was forced to begin as Kimi cried out helplessly from above. "Up here!" She called with all her might, though it came out something like, "Mm hmm!" And was not heard over the roar of the students.

"I would like to congratulate our new graduates!" Roku called over the cheering of the students, "They have worked hard for the past five years, and have gained the respect and friendship of many. Their battle skills have exceeded that of several of our top staff. This is a proud day, the day that our young go out into the world with their newly aqcuired knowledge. This, is the day that has been looked forward to for a long time. Their are several students who could not be with us this year- those that died bravely in the war, defending their fellows. I would like to honor them with a moment of silence, and then we shall continue..."

Kimi squeezed her eyes shut in exhasperation, silently begging someone to look up. Quite suddenly her body jerked and Kimi awoke- the room was dimly lit, she must have slept through most of it and all the way through the graduation of her peers. Her eyes fell on Roku, who seemed to be pacing nervously below her, "MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm!" She cried, hearing her muffled voice echo, and seeing his surprised face peer up at her, the girl trapped in the ceiling.

"Kimi!?!" He cried out from the floor.

Kimi's eyes fell on the shadow that stood behind the older man, and suddenly he was on the ground, whether he was merely unconscious or dead, Kimi had no way of knowing. Suddenly she was held firmly over the shoulder of her captor, her body still weak and unwilling to do anything that she told it to do. It wasn't long before they were out of the building and rushing towards a large, towering building several miles away.
