There were days

when the sun would sway

and touch our hearts

with intrepid rays

When love was

and was nothing else

and we could but reach in,

and at once find ourselves

then silence spoke

of wonder and awe

and through the bliss

we desired more

Thus spiralled the steps

down and down and down in vain

till we lost count

till we shouted, "again!"

With faceless vows,

down we went

down beyond innocence,

forbidding regret.

These are the days

and weeks

and months

of waiting

In the aether of our youth

we see many tomorrows

but know also the truth

across the subtle fault lines

we reveal our destinations

the vibrations we feel

and so too the seal

of all we are: soon to be broken

ringing hymns of future generations

Tis what it should be and not what it is

for upon waking we see

that, incessantly,

time and tide

and tune and thought

drag and tug upon our hidden knots

rendering our souls loose

at sea without anchor

swirling from our darling roots

are we become the better?

Through the breeze, I've one thing to say

Sing, my friend, sing now, today

Sing for life, death and decay

Sing the tunes that bear the signs

that we are the notes between the lines!
