The Moon

I am the Moon

I am the one who shines in the night

I send my glistening rays to the earth

The wolves worship me with their songs

I fight against the clouds for the control of the sky

I am the Moon

I am the sister of the great sun

I am the mother of the stars

My brother lends me his light while he rests

I am the bringer of sleep

I am the moon

I am the governess of the ocean

I control the waves with my mighty force

The moon flowers open only for me

I shine through every window

I am the Moon

I light the way for lovers in the night

I glow for the writer’s who seek to immortalize me

My pock-marked face is a shining beacon

I am the one who outshines the stars

I am the Moon

I am the one that all wish to claim

I am seen in the eyes of every dreamer

My body is covered in human footprints

I am the caretaker of the night sky

I am the Moon

I am the one called Luna

I share my monthly cycle with my daughters

My brother awakens while I sleep

I outshine every pearl in the sea

I am the Moon
