Sunflowers and Sand

You take a little opium and fall into place.

You're forced to drink this genocide;

the killing of your own race.

These sunflowers will break my fall,

and this sand will help me slip through time,

As if I weren't there at all.

A sumptuous gift to one who knows only lonliness.

When no one's there to take my hand,

these sunflowers and sand will help me to stand tall.

Sunflowers and sand will mark my grave.

Not that anyone will ever need to know,

their minds have all been enslaved,

by a world they only see as a place to rest their head,

when their bodies have gone to rot,

and their eyes are all but dead.

But I know there's so much more than sunflowers and sand.

Strange, I know. This poem/song is about a lot of confusing, conflicting and contradicting things in my life (and in the world around me) that I put in half-metaphors. I did that to another one of my poems (that no one reviewed!!). Please review to make me feel better about my lack of updating my story Why Blood?! Thank you!

The theme of sunflowers and sand is from my mother's love of sunflowers and my obsession with the desert, to whom I shall hopefully return to soon. And I love the smell of both sunflowers and sand. :D
