Ring

Kagoatweed’s Rant: R&R, and please, be inspired, but don’t steal ideas.

numb hands and shivering fingers

purple veins that make skin lace

a single band and a lonely stone

Zirconium eye watching her face

space between flesh and gold

admitted defeat to gravity's cries

icicle fingers that moved without thought

returned diamond to sapphire eyes

artfully crafted, seamless, unbroken

hearts twined their way around

thin banded and delicate

when it slipped, it hit earth without sound

glaring at the twinkle of gold in golden sand

she let fly diamonds

prisms struck the ground

and footprints led away from

the ring that reminded her

of cold nights

and more tears than she'd shed

for anyone ever before.
