Taking a break from my other two stories (probably an eternal break); decided to start (and not finish) something new. Please please help keep the story going by reviews! Thanks!
---The Year of 2050; nothing much has changed significantly in the everyday world due to increasing crime, war, and taxes; the world has been slowly but surley crumbling under mankind's own fault---
Setting- important, please read
The streets of Salt Lake City, Utah were gloomy, occupied mainly by angst-ridden homeless teens searching for food, shelter, or something to steal. Police also roamed the streets, holding a watchful eye on the subtle suspiciousness of the young deviant seemed practically useless; the teens were experts at stealth, able to get away with impossible crimes, leaving close to no evidence. One would need top-of-the line detective work to track each one down to their felony. But the cops also had an advantage. They were the authorities; able to arrest and hold one in custody and do as they pleased- especially a homeless soul, not missed by anyone and unloved. Even though they were titled as Government Officials, the cops were just as dirty and unjust as the scoundrel citizens themselves.
People hardly noticed when one of their peers dissappeared from the city streets, except for close friends and other gang members. And they lacked the power to do anything about it-except to stay alive. The captures had steadily been growing latley in the final weeks of January. Fresh snow had fallen, as well as fresh bait. Inexperienced orphans were a common target for some cops, others hunted the "experts". The streets of Utah had become the grounds on which an urban war was constantly being waged between unpurposeful anarchy and strict reign of a dying government, as well as betrayal among comrades and moonlight bounty hunters.
-------------------------
Among the subtle chaos, a young woman, like many others, is lost, without a home, no real friends, and hardly a memory. She starts out on a mission to find her one true friend with the scattered fragments of a memory left in her troubled mind while constantly fleeing the cops and greedy bounty hunters that roamed the streets; searching for her past and the reason for the happenings that befell her as the days wore on.
-------------------------
pain...
agonizing, sweet, numbing pain...
the screeching of tires
flashing lights, wailing sirens...
a nightmare.
but the worst part....
was her eyes.
staring back at me, on the brink of death, yet full of knowing...
she knew.
it was me.
all me.
