Author’s note:

This isn’t my original work. They are the translated lyrics of Jay Chou’s Yi Lu Xiang Bei, a slow touching song from his silver screen debut: the movie adaptation of popular anime Initial D. They are not literal translations however; I use extra imagery here and there to project the emotions stronger. If you understand Chinese, read the original Mandarin lyrics. They’re simply beautiful. -smiles-

Disclaimer: I do not own the lyrics. Got help from a Friendster friend on some of the Chinese words. Got the full-length version of this song from another friend. Thank you, people. This is for you, and everyone who loves this song. Enjoy!

One Road Towards North

Music: Jay Chou
Original Lyrics: Fang WenShan

I stare as the world in my rear-view mirror disappear into the distance
Further and further it slips into nothingness
The soft whisper of “goodbye” hangs in the air
You turn away, but your side profile is so hauntingly beautiful
My eyes rest on your reflection
Trying to paint the last picture of you in my memory
And yet clearly still I hear those tears

Outside the car window they grieve
All the words I want to say, all the things I have yet to do
From where you stand, from where I look
A thick wall of tears separate us
The street views continue to recede into oblivion
Your visage starts to blur in liquid fragments

I head towards north
Leaving the season that breathes you
You said you are too tired
No longer able to love anyone, anymore
The wind whistles on the lonely mountain road
Recalling our past memories I understand
They were all my wrongdoings
I hurt you too much
Too many times

I head towards north
Leaving the season that breathes you
Around the steering wheel they rotate
The regret I feel, the guilt I cannot forget
I accelerate into the welcoming darkness
Yet I fail to escape the lingering sadness
I have hurt you too much
Too many times

Then Please stop this agony
Let me
Let go.
