Twas a sunny morning when the pupil approached his master with a question on his mind.
"Master, what becomes of us when we die? When our bodies return to the ground and our spirits are released to roam free?"
Replied the master to his pupil: "Lattes and biscotti, my young pupil. Lattes and biscotti."
Puzzled, was the pupil, of his master's strange reply. So, asked the pupil of his master: "Lattes and biscotti, master? Whatever do you mean?"
Replied the master to his pupil: "When we die and our spirits are released from their mortal shells, we go to the afterlife where we drink lattes and eat biscotti."
Asked the pupil of his master: "But what if one does not like lattes or biscotti?"
Replied the master to his pupil: "Does not matter. Everyone likes lattes and biscotti in the afterlife."
Asked the pupil of his master: "But what if one does not want to sit and eat biscotti while drinking a latte? What if one finds it boring and would rather do something different?"
Replied the master to his pupil: "Again, it does not matter. Time does not exist in the afterlife, so one cannot get bored. Everyone is quite content to sit and drink their lattes and munch on biscotti."
Sat and thought, the pupil did, but his master's answers still made no sense to him. So, again the pupil troubled his master with a question.
Asked the pupil of his master: "But, master, what if—"
"Ack! Do not trouble me with anymore of your questions. What happens to us when we die is only known by those already dead and they aren't exactly telling us all about it. Now go! Back to your studies, and let me finish my morning meditation."
Politely, did the pupil leave his master, bowing before returning to his studies. Then, once the pupil had left the master took a sip of his latte and munched on some biscotti and was quite content in doing so.
