Trials of the Lovers

There was a maiden of fair face

Talent, intelligence, and good grace

A head on her shoulder and a heart in her chest

Goodness and Kindness were her zest

She could argue philosophy

Math, history, and geography

She was lovelier then a flower

And many men fell for this power

Four rose above the crowd

And voiced their opinions out loud

One with great wealth and wit

One who let his heart see fit

One who was silent and strong

The last had gone terribly wrong

All claimed love for our dear maid

To marriage all did bayed

Now it has come time to choose

One shall win, while others lose

Matthew T. Huntington III

Matthew was given birth

To a family of great worth

Money was always at hand

So were girls and land

But Matthew turned away false looks

And concentrated on his books

He passed all classes with ease

And graduated with prestige

He then attended Yale

And that truly begins our tale

Our young maid also attended

A wicked man did her offended

Matthew saved her from despair

And started her heart to repair

So they began to date

And that was a seal of fate

Matthew had never known a girl so witty

So kind, so good, or so pretty

They were equal in every way

In everything they would do or say

Matthew soon fell in love

With this gentle little dove

But, alas she did claim

She did not treat him the same

She had many gentle lovers

Matthew was just one of the others

But this finding did not him break

For a proposal he did make

He loved her more then his life

And wish for her to be his wife

Andrew Covens

Andrew was a poet at heart

Weaving words was his art

He could charm fish from sea

And was romantic as can be

His voice always hit the mark

Bringing others from the dark

Once near water he did spy

Our young maiden in a cry

He came out to comfort her

And to bring her great rapture

He brought a smile upon her face

And found in her heart his place

She greatly enjoyed his song

Of stories great, of stories long

He enjoyed her attention

And love happened to be mention

She did conveyed to him her tales

About her involvement with other males

But this did not cause him mope

For he still had one hope

To have her as his blushing bride

Even though she had lied

Jessie Smith

Jessie was an athlete

Which was shown in his physique

He normally did not talk

But loud was his walk

Unfortunately, he had an Achilles heel

Math to him was a major deal

He hired our little maid

To give him learning aid

He begin to find her charming

Which to her was alarming

He then made a deal

To show her how he feel

If he did his best

And passed the next test

She would go out with him

But he was going on a limb

She agreed to this bet

And so the course was set

With her help, he did ace

And she gave him his place

So her and Jessie had a time

Which to them was sublime

One day, on bended knee

Jessie happens to ask she

For her to take his ring

And marriage vows to sing

She told him the wretched truth

Of all her relationships uncouth

But he just saw that as a game

And he would win all the same

Viper

Viper was the black sheep

Which caused his mother to weep

He did no true crimes in anyway

No matter what the others say

His real name was never said

Or else you would lose your head

He lived his life hard and fast

All knew his years would not last

One day he happen to pass

Our bonny little lass

He asked her for a drink

His offer she did shrink

Viper was angered by her reply

All she did was sigh

She said she turned him down

Not due to society’s frown

But for he has lived his life

To cause all other strife

So if he would try to break

All his past mistakes

She would go to dinner

With this saved sinner

So Viper stopped all his gambles

And took his life from the shambles

The maid gave him his wish

Or dinner out and a kiss

Viper had been born a new

He wanted the proper thing to do

Viper said she was his sun

The source of all his joy and fun

He wanted them to wed

Regardless of what others said

But this was her greatest woe

For three others had proposed

Viper knew all the rest

And knew for her, he was the best

Phoebe Owens

Phoebe is the maiden’s name

The girl who did so many hearts tame

To think about her love past

It is shocking the others last

For she had a lover for three years

Who left her in tears

/they were engaged to marry in June

But he thought it was too soon

So in his hand he took her heart

And broke it clean apart

She was in a bottomless woe

Her spirits sinking low

On that she made an oath

Which for awhile she could boast

With men she would flirt, frolic, and have her fun

But she would never just pick one

For awhile this did work

Until her life turned muck

Men would still destroy her hope

Causing her to find a new way to cope

Each break up she found a new

Charming, wonderful young beau

Matthew and her could talk

With Andrew it was romantic walk

Jessie could make her smile

For her, Viper changed his file

All four men did propose

On bended knee with ring and rose

Poor Phoebe had much strife

To choose the husband she would be wife

So now the day has come

To pick the only one.

The men all waited

To see if their love was sated

Phoebe appeared in her tears

To break or make their fears

She gave a sad smile to each

And then began her speech

Each she loved for different reason

Each to her was a different Season

Matthew was Spring, gentle and soft

Andrew was Summer, passion burning hot

Jessie was Autumn, sweet and crisp

Viper was Winter, frozen bliss

So if all together were her prefect man

How apart could they stand

So never again did they Phoebe see

And with that Phoebe did flee

A year later she lay dead

And she was never wed

Killed by her first lover

In her sleep, she was smother

He then took many knives

And took all her lover’s lives

So now in the same tomb

Lays the lover’s doom

All five side by side

And that is how love died

But the bleack in the after life

They finally received her as their wife

So though all on Earth are sad

In Heaven all are glad

For each finally got what their desire

The lovely flame of their fire
