In Ancient times, when man was still new, creatures that dot our legends abounded. They protected our ancestors from harm of the Shadows.

The Shadows were evil beings, made entirely from the dark karmas of humanity by the Dark Lord, Yukio, Yukio hated the goodness in humans and their protectors and wished the world dark. As time grew, more people grew dark, and Yukio had more soldiers.

It was then, that seven of the legendary creatures banded together. The Dragon, the Pegasus, the Griffin, the Sphinx, the Werewolf, the Chimera, and the Phoenix. Each creature holding immense strength and magic, battled the Shadows.

But sadly, the Shadows grew and grew in numbers, while the seven animals remained the same. People doubted their abilities, and so they were all but forgotten. The Shadows were winning. People were dying and suffering by the Shadows’ hands. The animals could not turn their backs on the people they loved and had once loved them.

In a last attempt to save the people, the animals decided to sacrificed themselves in order to save humanity. They knew this would only buy the humans some time, until Yukio ruled again, so they each made a weapon for a heir to use. The Dragon made a sword from his own fangs with a hilt made from his scales. The Pegasus used wood from a willow tree, diamonds from the sky, and his own feathers to shape a bow and arrow. The Griffin craved with his claws a staff from an oak tree he had enchanted. The Sphinx attached one of his claws to a golden chain, to make a chain sickle. The Werewolf used the one of his fangs attached to a rod of wood from a pine tree to make a spear. The Chimera melted a fang from each mouth and a claw into a blade, then attached it to a silver handle to make a dagger. Finally, the Phoenix combined its blood with gold and rubies to make a scepter. Then they attacked Yukio.

Yukio had not been expecting this and was startled. He sent the Shadows to defeat the animals, but the animals came straight for him. The battle lasted for many hours, until finally the animals had Yukio surrounded and used their bodies to make a tomb around him. The Shadows were buried with their master and for years all was well.

That was, until Yukio broke free of his bindings and decided to once again destroy the human world. But a race of priest knew the truth of the seven animals. They had found all seven weapons, and six of the heirs, the seventh one remained hidden to them. The trained the six heirs, all young men, in the arts of fighting and magic. The six did not know about the seventh heir, and probably never would, until tragedy struck in the form of death.
