A Simple Rule

Just another day

Spent the same old way

Classwork, homework, tests and more tests

Wearing me down, into a mess

Just so tired all of the time

Getting overworked should be a crime

My head aches and my back is sore

I'm counting down the days more and more

But then something pulls me through

A note from a friend and a smile or two

A novel to read or a surprise after school

Helps me remember one simple rule:

It's true, life is short and we have to work hard

But when we get the chance and let down our guard

Love and friendship is what you'll find there

And that can help you get anywhere
