Realm trinity (first draft)
Prologue
Alisandra woke to a chilling shriek that echoed through the night. She threw the covers off of her bed and ran to her front door. She opened it slightly and lit her lamp signal. Down the street the lamps were being lit and choruses of people were shouting “The vampires are attacking!”. Alisandra pulled her head into her house as a swarm of bats headed the direction of her house. She ran to the room to the left of hers and grabbed her crying daughter, Elizabeth.
“Shh its okay honey. Mommy is here.” Alisandra comforted her terrified daughter.
“I want you to take this cross and hide in your special spot in the basement.” She commanded to her child.
“Alright Mommy.” Elizabeth sobbed
Alisandra watched her daughter descend the steps downstairs. The second she wasn’t visible Alisandra leaped to the door locking all the bolts. It was useless and she knew it. If a vampire wanted in it would get in but if it would slow it down she would do it. She grabbed a bottle of holy water and doused the door with it as well as the door to the basement. She emptied the last bit of it into her body so if it sucked her dry she could still kill it. Suddenly the door began to shake one was trying to get in. Alisandra reached for a stake ready to fight to the death so as to protect her beloved daughter. The vampires may have taken her husband but they wouldn’t get her daughter. Her heavy oaken door fell at her feet they were in, there were three of them. Fear and anger welled up inside of her a full grown and well built man couldn’t even take three and survive. She wasn’t a man though she told herself she was a full grown well built woman. A mother as well, she could take them.
“Hello darling” taunted the one towards the front. He was obviously the head honcho of these three. He had burgundy eyes that screamed evil and hair that flowed as if the wind was dancing in its tendrils but there wasn’t any wind this night. The one to the left and behind him had vibrant green eyes as did the one to the right. The one to the left had a scar across his face she thought to herself, he was not the leader but she feared him the most. He enjoyed it, this wasn’t just a nice dinner it was a game. The one in the front that had spoken previously stepped towards her. She immediately tensed up and was ready to pounce. She would let her animal instincts take over. He made a motion swift as a bird towards her but not swift enough she ducked and pulled his feet out from beneath him. She had nearly missed a blow to her head that could have knocked her unconscious. He was up on his feet in a second and the look of pleasure left his face, he was angry.
“My darling you hurt me.” he spat at her.
She threw a punch towards the vampire that had slipped behind her it was the one from the right. He dodged it just in time. The one with the scar delivered a painful blow to her stomach. Alisandra felt as if she couldn’t breathe. The frightened mother pulled herself up and leaned against the wall.
“What is that stench?” inquired the one with the scar.
“Holy water.” responded The leader as he pulled his hand back from a puddle on the floor. “The house is drenched in it.” He stated with amusement. “Your not as dumb as you look my darling.” He laughed
“I am not your darling!” she shouted as she staked the quiet one from the right.
It was now her and two vampires. They looked taken aback that she had succeeded in killing one of their own. The leader’s eyes transformed from the subtle burgundy to a vibrant fire red.
“You will pay for that little one. No one gets away with killing one of my own.” He whispered with unmatchable fury. He dove for her and they locked into battle. She clawed at his eyes as he struggled to get her pinned down. He succeeded. The vampire looked at her with lust through the hair that had fallen like a veil in his face. He leaned towards her neck his fangs so close to her fair skin when her foot found his stomach and she kicked him off of her body. He slammed against the wall. The wooden coat rack going through his heart. Now it was a badly bloodied Alisandra and the scarred one. She watched his eyes scan her figure gauging if he could win. In a blink of an eye he flew at her. He decided that he could take her. He kicked her in the side with enough force to break two ribs and shatter another. The cry of pain she made filled the night air and all looked briefly in her direction. She hurt so bad but she had to keep fighting for her beloved Elizabeth. He paced around her as she struggled to move. She picked herself up and had just gained her balance when he took a knife off of her counter and dug it into her thigh all the while he had a sickening, devilish grin on his face. He pulled it out and licked it clean. The holy water didn’t phase him, it didn’t work. She grabbed a small statue of Jesus off of her table and smashed it into his head. He growled with pain and hit her across her head and stuck the knife back into her other thigh. Alisandra’s world began to swim all around her. She felt the vampire’s teeth pierce her skin suddenly he pulled his teeth out and let her go, he had heard something. “What had he heard?” Alisandra asked herself. “ELIZABETH!” she screeched. Some how she picked herself up and stumbled down the stairs. To a horrifying sight he was about to bite her squirming daughter.
“Drop the kid!” she whispered. He turned and did as he was told.
“I couldn’t figure out why you were fighting us so hard until I heard this little dear’s whimpers. Poor little pet was so frightened she couldn’t keep quiet.” the vampire told. He strode towards her to meet his gut with her knife. She immediately pulled it off and put the knife to his throat. She put all hundred pounds of her weight into decapitating him. She collapsed at the side of her daughter and wept until she slipped into unconsciousness as her daughter cried her name. She was greeted by her husband when she crossed into heaven where she would live happily for the rest of time. Finished Ashley the fortune teller. “Your mother was a strong woman to fight off three vampires.” She told the now eighteen year old Elizabeth.
“Are you sure what you saw was true?” asked a shaky Elizabeth.
“Yes, the crystal ball doesn’t lie.” she replied. “How have things been going with your research?” Ashley asked Elizabeth.
“Well. We have found the hiding spot of the vampires. It’s in another realm that is why we could never find them.” Divulged Elizabeth.
“You are telling me some very important information. Why?” Asked Ashley.
“It is very important and if the vampires find out what we know they will kill those who know about it to stop it from spreading. So I am telling everyone so it can’t be stopped. You already knew that though.” Elizabeth said as she stood up to leave. “Have a nice day.”
“You too.” What a smart girl Ashley thought to herself. She will go places. Important places. She stood and began to put her devices away. She looked at a deck of cards that were a gift from a friend. They were much like tarot cards except you threw them and how they landed foretold the future. Ashley had been reading up on how to use them in her spare time and decided it was time to use them. “Spirits I ask for your assistance in the telling of Elizabeth Grunt’s future.” Chanted Ashley. She tossed the cards into the air and stepped back to watch them fall. The gypsy sat and began to decipher the future. “Let us see what is in store for you Elizabeth.” she muttered to herself. “We have a trip to a distant place. Probably the other realm. She’ll see much death on her journey there. Alliances will be made as well as enemies. She will grow in strength and power. What does this say? Oh my, this can’t be right.” ASHLEY RUN OR DIE. NOW! Is what the cards had spelled out amongst the other’s from the deck. The frightened gypsy leapt to her feet and flew out of her back door into the woods just as dusk began to set.
