illusion

you gotta recognize
the facts you memorized
were wrongly advertised
as useful in your lives
raise up your weary eyes
unto the cloudy skies
and ask your endless "why's"
as stupidity and lies
run rampant in disguise

these eyes see beyond the gist
escape does not exist
except in moments missed
by eyes that start to mist
as memories of lists
of things like being kissed
consume and start to twist
open hands turn into fists, (but)
still no power to resist

exists within the rage
ignore, and turn the page
if news beyond the cage
doesn't suit the youthful sage
black and white turn into beige;
'comes impossible to gauge
whether magic or the mage
wage war against what's right.
