Living life through an empty shell
Trying hard to get by
Searching for answers words cannot tell
The mysteries of my life
What aren't humans able to see?
Why do we live in pain?
Why do we search for what we long to be
But in the end never gain?
What more can life offer us
Than living and breathing and dying?
What purpose is there for all of us?
Why do we end up crying?
What happens to us when we're dead?
Do our bodies just lie and rot?
How are we supposed to get ahead
When we're trying to be something we're not?
This wholesome world in which we live
Has taken ahold of our minds
Too many unanswered questions we give
Of all sorts and kinds
What answer could we offer those
Who ask the unanswerable?
Through all the directions in which life goes
Not many are we able
There's sometimes simply no response
To the questions that are asked
And all the mysteries that haunt us
Will forevermore last
