Broken

You said you'd never leave me,
You said you'd always love me,
You said you'd never say good-bye,
And never make me cry.
I believed you with my heart and soul,
And never doubted for a minute,
That everything you said was right and true.
Why'd you break my heart?
Why'd you leave me behind?
There was never a time I didn't love you,
or a time when I made you cry.
Now I'm left with all this pain,
And questions unanswered.
I'm sorry that I left you, Daddy,
But you left long before I.
I don't know why I didn't see it before,
But as they say, ‘love is blind.’
You know I'll always love you,
Even if you can never forgive me.
Broken hearts and promises never fade away…

A/N

Poetry has never really been my ‘thing,’ but this is one that I wrote a long time ago and don’t completely hate. Sorry if the punctuation isn’t correct, that’s not really one of my strong suits. lol This poem is about the relationship, or rather, lack of relationship, between my father and I. ‘Hope you enjoyed my feeble literary attempt, and remember, reviews and constructive criticism are always welcome. Thanks!
