I like to dream sometimes
That the path of yesterday
Came tumbling to a halt
Amongst the pale blue thorn roses
Against my bleeding heart of flesh
A dream beyond the stars of life
Born free towards a road of dust and gravel

My heart becomes not bleeding but whole
Lost becomes the tears of faith
And my dreams become something more than strife
Let me breathe my own way
Send me off without a care
I’m sure I’ll find the path I seek
Without a word of need or help

This is something from before
The way I feel seems nothing new
But deep inside I know that it’s not true
How many days must this dream lead on?
‘Cause yesterday seems a dream of tomorrow

There is no way home
No way home
I know because I’ve tried to look
Upon the stars for a chance to change

My dreams manifest themselves
In myself and everything around me
Here I go, off this high-rise
Without a cord to bring me back
And I become something more
As my dreams turn to reality

All along the river is running
Each path here looks the same to me
So much time spent wasting away
God has seen the lies we’ve taken
Stared at us from his almighty perch

Someday soon we will see
Life is not all it’s chalked up to be
Today has become a yesterday
And this path is wearing thin

There’s no way home
No chance to find our way back
Tell the world
Who and what you must seem to be
We’ll be here all night and day
Watching the world revolve away

The sun comes up and the sun goes down
Some how it seems there’s not enough to go around

I shied away from what’s before
But now I’ve gone too far
On this dream road of yesterday
‘Cause along the way I’ve had to stop
To spend awhile in a nightmare not my own
But I keep pushing on
On and on
On this path of yesterday

Sometimes I like to dream of yesterday
‘Cause it’s something from before
