I AM KING TOAST

Watch me as I helplessly
Return to savage whims aloft.
Now forge split-second ponderings
And spend less time killing me off.

I'm as good as toast these days -
For all my warm and golden splendor,
I'm still a dry and crusty peice
Of vapid wheat spun in a blender.

I may think I'm better off than butter
While I hide in my crumbly, hardened shell,
But sweet confections make me worse
Than ugly words could ever tell.

My spongey pores and fickle crust
Can both absorb the chews of time,
But by that token, mold destroys
This kingship that was always mine.
