I sit and I dream, I sit and I dream.

About castles and ships, mermaids and angels.

From the greatest lion who roars his call of kingship

To the ant who knows naught but the life he’s ever lived.

But a lion cannot make war and an ant can think

Though we as the larger of them may not see it.

I sit and I dream, dream as I sit

Of sunbeams and gentle moonlight

Playing across the scenes of my fantasies.

Of love and friendship bed so deep not even the strongest tornado

Could pull them away.

Of freedom, independence so I do not rely on others

To make my life what it shall be.

Nor money which governs us all,

It is money that makes us rich or poor.

I sit and I dream,

Sit on the cold rocky ground of a blood bed where life itself has given up

And we look with unseeing eyes to the bleak dawn.

I dream of nightmares, dancing their wild death dances,

Singing their wild death chorus,

A choir of rotting messengers bringing forth the hate that lies within our hearts

So that it may control us.

But I am not afraid.

For now I sit upon the moors of hope,

The meadow of sweet dreams bringing pollen to the flowers

So they may live on.

Perhaps I can reach out and clasp the hand of one of those bleak faces

And they will become clear.

Perhaps I can bring them close in a hug and hold them for all of eternity.

I feel the loneliness and I want to be a friend,

The saviour, the lover doing whatever needs to be done

Because I love them so.

To love is to put the mouse in front of the cat but I love so much.

I can not let them be alone as I once was,

I must hold them.

I sit and I dream, I sit and I dream

Of times better spent than those I have seen.

Others push me away when I try to love them,

If only I could make them see.

But this is all I dream as I sit,

I sit and I dream.
