summer spreads the thought of romances
in which some occur and some are thrown to pieces.
he was from boston, used to the cold.
she was from florida and baked in the sun.
they met on a Thursday evening, both dressed nicely
there was a slight smile given to one another
and a few words that came to place
which only left anticipation for the next day ahead.
summer nights in June were left chilly.
she would shiver and he would roll his eyes.
he wasn't cold, but offered her his coat
for, Floridians get awfully cold.
they walked around the city, talking
sat on a boat and watched the water pass by
and glammored over the big city of boston
and all the buildings attatched side by side
she needed someone like him,
who always needed to laugh.
he made her feel incredible
but nothing could ever work out.
she'd be leaving soon and probably wouldn't return
the last night she took his tie and put it beside her bed
he said he'd come back to say goodbye to her
at five o clock in the morning.
she woke up and saw him one last time
the sun was rising and all the colors were shades of lavender and purple
the tie was in her hand and she handed it back to him
"i know you'd come"
through the red sox to his swim meets
to his goals of the future, he stopped in the moment
and knew it would be impossible to see her again
everything left his mind.
she ran to him and gave him a big hug.
ten days went by too fast, and there wasn't enough time to learn about love.
she held him tight, hugged him twice
and left right beneath his eyes.
