“Death of a Madman”
By: Robert McAlister
Insane and deprived of health,
He knows that “THEY” are out to get him,
Ill and crazy, Fire ablaze in his eyes,
Nailing all the doors and windows shut,
Trapping himself inside, With only his unclean mind,
And all of the forms that “THEY” could take...
And with all of “THEM” locked inside,
The madman had a plan,
He though that it made him look like
A wise and brave man,
By dividing the ordinary from the supernatural
Terminating all the ordinary besides himself…
Realizing he had taken life,
He made a false conclusion,
That since HE had taken life,
THEY could never stop him!
He made a wobbly chair,
Out of what little he had,
And trapped himself in it with duct tape,
So that he couldn’t move,
He did this to show THEM that he wasn’t afraid,
And to prove that he was a wise and brave…
But this was not fearlessness,
This was no wisdom or bravery,
It was actually closer to pure stupidity,
He strapped himself in that chair,
Already weak from insanity and hunger,
Trapped as his own mind devoured itself alive…
… Laying on his rickety floor,
Ten minutes later,
Taped to broken wood and nails
Scattered cross the floor,
And imaginary blood stained the boards
Of the floor on which he lay,
Ghosts and monsters attacking his soul…
He was not only dieing in his mind ,
But he was also dieing in real life!
In his mind it happened in a matter of hours,
But he was missing from the public for weeks!
THEY had left him to die,
And there was no one there to help him…
“…Oh the painful brutal silence
That slowly devours Ye…”
He whispered softly to himself…
With all of his might he lifted
His scrawny bony arms,
To try to feel, maybe heal,
The gashes on his neck and chest,
Only to find that there was nothing there!
Bravery and wisdom achieved,
And still that was his pain
For his life was over,
So damn quick, no wife, no kids,
Still he laughed,
He was calm and happy,
Laying on his deathbed,
With all his fears slain,
That day he died peacefully,
And he was finally sane…
