Only Two, Not One

You see it draw a painted sky.

It was pitch black you see?

It was a new future and by and by,

You wanted it to look at you.

Not a mirror.

Not a fake.

But just look at YOU.

No one else, but your face.

Shameless tears go down your face.

There is blood on your nails.

Red streaks across the canvas,

Blur your eyes.

You see your black eyes.

Pitch black eyes.

No, you don’t have those.

You have brown bordered black.

HER eyes!

You will not have it!

Clawing, screaming, and oh,

The pain.

You see a smile.

No, you don’t see anymore.

Feel liquid smooth object.

Were they yours?

No…hers. ALL HERS.

All they said were you looked like her.

Acted like her.

Wanted to be like her.

But NO NO.

Not like her!

Me.

Wanted it to all be me.

Her imaged came to me.

NO.

I never wanted to be like her.

Why?

Were people envious?

Did they make up lies to make you cry?

No…

More claws.

Had to kill.

There was only one ME.

No more HER,

Who CLAIMED that I wanted to be,

Like her.

All lies.

Treacheries.

She a black raven.

And I, who am I?

I looked so different.

My attitude.

Who I was.

We did the same things.

True.

Our personalities.

No.

More claws.

More blood.

Hatred burning in our eyes.

There was only one,

But two.

I was me.

She was her.

Why can’t she see that?

Dedication: To a friend who can’t seem to see I don’t want to be like her.
