Sorry I Could Not Save You
You are the one crying there.
So alone, wrapped up in personal despair.
Your eyes so dark, your soul so cold,
Like the dynamics of ice, frozen into a shape
No longer capable of mold
Our stories so similar, almost the same,
And it is for that reason I feel I should take the blame.
We traveled the same road, so willingly taken.
Companions in sin, a path of which we were mistaken.
But I went astray and into the brighter days
And left you to wonder in the dark.
I gazed into the light so amazed,
While you remained in the daze, and traveled further and further away.
I'm sorry I could not save you,
Save you from all the pain,
Save you from all the bitterness and disdain.
I'm sorry I could not save you,
Save you from all the tears,
Save you from the passing of so many empty years.
But most of all I am sorry I could not save your mind;
Some fraction of your former self that you may someday find.
Because though you may be lost, a part of me has been lost too.
And now all there is left to say is:
I'm Sorry I could not save you.
