Freedom turns to ashes
Like a flag aflame
No one but ourselves to
blame.
Destruction of liberty
Inside and out
Inducing a never-ending,
man-made draught.
Acid rain
Licking away hope
A sovereign nation now
ruled by the pope.
Equality slipping further
away
Night casting its grim
shadow
Covering the light of day.
Religious concerns
Outweighing democratic
acceptance.
Personal biases
Eclipsing liberty.
With so much emotion
Overriding rationality
How can we ever be free?
