Learning to Love

He closed his eyes

And tried to think

Of words to write

On his paper with ink

He had a thought

But it just passed

He’s trying hard

To make things last

He wrote this letter

From him to you

Hoped you’d read it over

Hoped it would do

Will you return

To his waiting side

He misses you

At night he cries

Please forgive him

He was so confused

He’s still growing up

And doesn’t understand how love is used

He’s trying to change

Trying to mature

So many things to fix

But it’s just human nature

It must be so hard

To realize

You’re still a child

And yet, still try
