Chapter 12
"Is this going to be a long drive or something?" I asked Nick as we sat down on the couch waiting for Deva to arrive.
"No," Nick said.
"Really?"
"Really," he replied, "because we aren't going to be driving. We're going to teleport."
"Teleport?" I echoed. How come he hadn't told me that he was able to teleport?
"Yes teleport," Nick replied a little bit impatiently, I think he was starting to get moody.
"Um," I started, "is there a chance that I can get lost in there?" I asked Nick. Okay, so I seem to be a little nervous about teleporting, can you blame me? Can you say that you've ever teleported in your entire life? See you can't, so there!
"Yes," Nick said, "many have got lost."
Whoa! That was definitely not the right thing to tell me Nick. My eyes widened as fear swept over my whole body.
"But love," Nick started, "if you stick with me, very close to me then there won't be a chance of you getting lost." That was a little bit better, at least if I stuck close to Nick..not extremely close then I wouldn't get lost.
"Nick," my father started, "shouldn't we get going now?"
"We're waiting for Deva dad," I told my father, "she's Nick's sister. We can't leave without her."
"Well," my father said, "we can only wait for so long. If she doesn't come we'll have to leave without her."
"Just a few more feet," she told herself as her jacket whipped in the wind.
Just then a maniacal laughter burst out into the air echoing in the extreme silence. Deva shuddered as she tried to gain more speed, but it was useless.
"Did you really think you could get away from me?" Darien laughed evilly as stood behind Deva his arms wrapped tightly around her waist.
"Let me go," she shrieked trying to pull away from his grasp.
"Never," Darien smirked.
Deva tried to kick him in the nuts but he was just too quick for her, "You're a bastard, and you're going to hell," she spat as Darien twisted her around in his arms.
"Good," he smiled a perverse little smile; "I'll be sure to take you there with me."
"We have no choice," he responded grimly as he grasped my hands.
"But we can't!" I complained, "Something bad is happening to her, I can feel it," I told him.
Nick gave me a weird look but he still wouldn't give up. If there was one thing I learned while living with him was that he never gave up, "no," he said.
"Well," I announced as I tried to wrestle away from his tight hold, "if you won't go save her, I will."
Nick gritted his teeth as he looked at me and then at my father, "will you please knock some sense into her? I will not choose between my mate and my sister."
"Callidora!" my father started.
"No, dad," I put up a hand, "Deva's my family too. I can't just leave without her. You have to understand. I know I don't have any vampiric powers but for some reason I can feel Deva's despair, and I know that there is something wrong with her." I know I can drive a hard bargain, but we couldn't leave without Deva, and I think Nick was considering the options.
Finally Nick turned towards me again and said, "Your father will teleport you and your family to the hideout. I will go and get Deva, is that understood? You will not in any circumstances follow me or try to goad me into taking you. I will not allow you to endanger yourself or our child. Is that clear?"
Man, and I thought I drove a hard bargain. Nick was damn good. Usually I would protest and try to get Nick into doing what I wanted to do...but well at least he was going to save Deva right?
"I understand," I told him.
"Good," Nick said as he turned to leave, but there was something telling me to stop him. And well I had to listen to my very annoying conscience.
"Wait," I told Nick. Nick turned around with a questioning expression on his face.
"Be careful, okay?"
Nick smiled a genuine smile, "I will. I have you to come back to."
“All right,” he boomed, “gather around, and everyone hold the hand of the person beside you.” I grabbed onto Adrian and my mothers hand. We were standing in some sort of circle. My father said if he was teleporting himself he wouldn’t have to make a circle, but since there were so many of us we needed to stand in a circle.
My father began chanting some weird things. Don’t even ask me to repeat them because I’m sure I don’t even remember what he was saying, and I don’t think I wanted to, it kind of sounded scary.
Anyway a few moments later a bright glow began surrounding us, I mean we were literally glowing and then wind started blowing. I know it sounds like a cliché but it was true. For some reason the wind would help us teleport, don’t ask me how or why, I don’t know the answer to that.
About five minutes later we started disappearing. My body wasn’t looking whole anymore, I kind of looked like a hologram, but at least the teleporting was working, right?
I saw a bright light in the distance and then my hotel suite just vanished into thin air. Instead surrounding me was pure darkness. I had a feeling we were in the wrong place.
“Welcome,” a voice boomed, “to your worst nightmare.”
“Uh, oh,” I whispered.
“I’m here to welcome you in your short stay,” the voice laughed.
“Show yourself you coward!” I screamed.
A body appeared swathed entirely in a black cloak. “I’m sorry,” he said not sounding apologetic at all, “I’ve been so rude. Let me introduce myself. I’m Darien.”
Also sorry about the grammer, I sent it to my beta...well I haven't got it back yet, and I'm much too impatient, so I just had to post it!

Well Callidora and Nick live in Toronto, and her parents live in Vancouver..both in Canada...I'm not really familiar with American cities, or else they would have been placed there. Callidora is only a few weeks into her pregnancy. She's approximately two weeks pregnant...or three..whichever you choose.
Carbon Slash: Lol..they scare me because I think people are flaming me that's why!...well who said it would be a boy or girl...you never know what it'll be..maybe they'll have twins..(wink)...lol seriously, I thought you died too...I think maybe Kilan needs to get out of his sulk and entertain a few people...you know what I mean?..maybe a chapter or two
