This little vignette happened literally 5 minutes ago. And now it's raining. About the knowingly fickle nature of Nature. Please review!

A storm was coming,
the thunder grumbled
in the distance.

I opened the back door
to let the dog out,
when, smack at eye level,
I saw the sharp outline
of a dragonfly
against the grey sky.

Big enough to rival
its primeval ancestors,
it perched in perfection
on the screen.

No jewel-toned body
was visible,
just the grey undercarriage
and filament wings.

I ran to get my camera
for such a shot was
just too exquisite to miss.

But as I bounded back
up the stairs and pulled
the silvery contraption out,
the dragon flew away
with a quickly-lost buzz.
