Mankind’s Reign

The tip-tap of raindrops
scatter smoothly on roofs
of empty houses, hours
after sundown.
They’re dead to this world
yet being prepared for new lives
soon to enter the carcass
of wood, stone, and sand.
A perfect display of man’s
respect for the earth, shown
by ripping it apart, caring
only about himself.
Cookie cutter carcasses
desecrate the perfect organism
which contains such brute,
selfish, greedy beings.
Yet the sky lets her tears fall,
still trying to save
the rest of this world
from mankind’s reign.
