Moving Day
Through a window green curtains flap
On this gray, rainy August morning –
Graduation was long behind in May,
And a new life fast approaching.
In this house I have lived
Since the day I was born –
If walls could talk,
They would have a lot to say.
I don't want to leave this house
Because this house I love –
Will these new people
Leave it the way I remember?
Now the van is full,
The windows are now all bare –
This house echoes empty,
But whispers goodbye.
I stand in my vacant bedroom,
Tears burning my face –
I lived here all my life,
Who is taking my place?
