Author: Gothatheartholo

Genre: Tragedy, Angst, Romance, H/C,

Part: 1/5

Warnings: Everything about high school, and life.

Rating: Haha, it’s M

Pairings: Both het and yaoi pairings. (Mostly Yaoi! XD! Long live yaoi!)

Summary: “I go on living in my darkness…That dark depth, that depth…
I decide in my life to take that path.” Shinta made one bad mistake in his life. Now he must deal with the consequences.

Disclaimer: I do not own the lyrics that I put here.
AN:I own this story, and my characters. If you steal them away from me, I will hunt you down and demand them back. Also inspired by Alex’s poems somewhat…

AN2: And this may or may not be the rewritten version of Try Harder. I dedicate this to Patty, aka ChibikawaiiAnime, because she wanted me to write a story and for beta-ing this. Also, since that this is a high school fic, my writing style isn’t as thick since it doesn’t need much description and all of that. (Dude, everyone knows what a school looks like, so I don’t really need to describe it)

AN3: Also, this is based on my previous high school somewhat, not a Japanese high school, since I don’t know much about them. (It would be useless if I do research, since there’s just too many different stuff) Hell, I just like the Japanese names, because they’re cool. And one more note, I was listening to a lot of hiphop music, both Korean and Japanese to fit the mood.

Oh, to all my RL friends, there is a very very mild chance that one of these characters might be based off you guys. /cackles/ Oh yeah, feeeeel the characters…. /ahem/ hehe. And there are no gary stues or mary sues here, because I put a little bit of myself into each of these characters.

The Blossoming of Betrayal

Part I: His biggest mistake

---

I go on living in my darkness…That dark depth, that depth…I decide in my life to take that path…

---

In the hectic city of Laili, Shinta Mayuza was an ordinary sixteen-years-old boy…

Then again, so was his favorite teacher, Kami Nazuli of Lapis high school, his best friends Yatrina Natashi, and Katsu Kyoru. The students of Lapis high school were normal too, so what was normal? Define normal. What makes one normal?

Was it normal for a boy to have clear, blue eyes like his mother? Was it normal for him to be tall, slender, and have semi-wavy black hair, and semi-pale skin, thus overall making him look like a pretty boy, adored by girls? Was it normal for him to be stiff and aggravated around them because they were irritating? Was it normal for him to have a passion for the violin?

Yes, of course that was normal. He only had eyes for one person though, and it wasn’t any of those admirers he had, but he didn’t know if they were real feelings for sure.

Now, here he was, standing in front of his school, ready for his second year, and with him was Yatrina. They were both dressed in the uniform code: Shinta was adorned in a white office shirt and black pants, while Yatrina was adorned in a long black skirt and the same white shirt. Both of their shoes were black, and they both hated to wear something formal as this was, since it was hard to get used to them.

“I’m going to tell him today!” Yatrina announced, flailing her arms, giggling. She winked at Shinta, who sweat dropped.

Yatrina was a pretty girl, with blond hair and emerald eyes, but she always thought herself too fat, thus her body was skinny and small compared to Shinta’s. Shinta used to have a crush on her, but that all vanished when he found out that he was—

“Hey, Shinta,” called out Katsu, another black-haired boy with dark red eyes. He was taller than Shinta, and he was slightly muscled. His chest was broad, and he had a cocky expression on his handsome face.

“Katsu,” Shinta smiled, giving his friend a hug. “You ready for this new school year?”

A smug smirk appeared on Katsu’s face and he rubbed Shinta’s hair fondly. “Getting ready to kick ass you mean? Yeah, sure, sure. Gang’s all ready to destroy those stupid ass teachers.” He laughed in amusement, causing Shinta to stare at him weirdly.

Katsu Kyoru was a strange boy. He had his own gang called Scorpion, and like other gangs, they would cause trouble to incompetent people in the school, like stupid teachers and inept principles, because they found them amusing since their targets were so dense. They would sell and trade drugs and fight with other gangs that would take their territory, just to boost up their pride.

The three best friends, Shinta, Yatrina, and Katsu had been friends for a long time, but they were so different from each other, and perhaps that was what brought them together.

“Hey!” Yatrina shouted happily, and when the taller boy let go of Shinta, she rushed her way over him and hugged him tightly. The gang leader just laughed again and returned the hug. “I’m finally going to tell him today! Wish me luck, neh?”

“Eh? Really? Is this true, Shinta?” he inquired, releasing her. Shinta nodded, and grinned.

“Yeah, about time too, huh? She’s been babbling about him sincelast year. Like oh, how handsome and graceful he is, with his violin and his bow and his music, and his long black hair and dark brown eyes…” he trailed off, blinking his eyes mockingly. The two boys sniggered at Yatrina who frowned at them and planted her hands on her hips angrily.

“Oh shut up. You two are just jealous of Mr. Nazuli!” she said, glaring at them, pouting.

“Why would I be jealous of my favorite teacher?” Shinta inquired, smiling. “Besides, aren’t I one of those popular people around here?”

“Well, you’re popular with the girls,” Katsu commented, and he put his arms around his best friend, nuzzling against him. “And the reason is that you’re all pretty and shit.”

Katsu started tickling his sides, causing him to laugh. “Katsu! Sto-p the tickling!” He began coughing, and at last, his friend let him go. He leaned on his friend’s chest, panting for his breath, closing his eyes. Katsu balanced him to his feet and then saluted him.

“I gotta go, man. I’ll see you later,” he said, petting Shinta’s head, smirking again, causing Shinta to laugh nervously. Katsu noticed Shinta’s pale face, and caressed his cheeks gently. “Don’t be afraid…” Then he was off, joining his other friends, who were waiting for him.

“…” Shinta sighed deeply; the happy mood disappeared. Yatrina frowned again, and sighed. She patted Shinta’s shoulder, and told him to come with her to get their schedules.

---

“So first period is Chemistry,” Shinta said aloud, as he and Yatrina made their way over to that specific class, bumping into some students in the white hall.

“Yes,” Yatrina replied, nodding her heart-shaped face.

“And I have that with you. Then I have English, History, Orchestra, Math, and PE. Lunch’s at fourth period… You have the same classes, just in different periods and some different teachers…”

“Yeeeep!” she replied again. “I wonder where Katsu is though.”

“He’s either skipping class, or scaring a teacher silly, or…” Shinta trailed off, musing. “he’s actually IN class, but in a different class than us.”

Yatrina nodded in agreement. The two entered a classroom and seated themselves in the middle of it. Other students already sat down, and they greeted each other in hushed tones, the girls giggling, and the boys snickering.

Shinta stared at the classroom curiously; to him it was a known fact that you could tell what a teacher was like regarding what they have in their rooms. There were posters of scientists on the walls, some chemistry things on one counter, which he believed was the lab. The room had a strange smell, but he figured that it was from previous lessons.

Seems like any chemistry class, he mused. The two suddenly stayed quiet as the teacher – dressed in the same clothes as the boys of the school - entered slowly. Shinta’s eyes widened in surprise; this wasn’t what he expected; this teacher was a guy with flaming red hair. Holy shit! The teacher glanced at him, noticed his look, frowned, and then turned away. He dropped his backpack on the chair behind the teacher’s desk, and started writing his name on the board, creating annoyingly, loud scratches.

Arana Kavan

Some students flinched in irritation because of the noise he made, and the chemistry teacher grinned. “Get your books out; we’ll start our experiments soon.” He wrote the pages on the board, which the students immediately noticed. If they were going to start experiments that fast, something most people were excited about, then they would follow this teacher’s instructions quickly.

Well, I’ll be damned, Shinta thought, getting his chemistry book out; he laid it on the black desk with a soft thud, and attempted to find out the pages. He could feel the teacher’s eyes on him already, and he refrained from gulping. He could tell that Mr. Kavan didn’t like him at all. He glanced at Yatrina, who was sending notes to her other friends. He sighed deeply, and returned to his work.

Time passed rapidly, and class was nearly over. They had done a lot of reading regarding the basics of Chemistry and even some about Biology (since Biology and Chemistry did go together). Mr. Kavan had already given them homework to do: more reading.

That son of a bitch is evil, I swear. Shinta growled mentally. Mr. Kavan had kept on picking him to answer each one of his questions, and every time Shinta messed up, the teacher would humiliate him in front of everyone. Yatrina had to save his ass by volunteering, and even though she had been wrong on some points, Mr. Kavan didn’t point them out bluntly, he had picked another student.

Plus, someone was trying to talk to him, through notes, whispering his name hurriedly. And it was happening again.

“Hey, psssst! Hey! Hey!” cried a female voice from the back.

Shinta glowered. If Katsu saw him like this, he would mock him forever, calling him his little fireball, because of Shinta’s strange temper. “What is it?” he questioned softly. The black-haired girl from the back smiled brightly and threw a ball of paper at him. He scratched his head and picked it up.

Can I talk to you at lunch?

-Yuki Mana

He gritted his teeth and stared at her in annoyance. The black-haired girl grinned again, and pointed at his pencil, urging for him to write back. Yatrina noticed the letter and smirked to herself. All right, another girl. Right…

He wrote hastily on the paper and rolled it towards her, who picked it up with a curious face and read it. The bell rang suddenly, and he was so glad to be out of the class. For a strange reason, Yatrina wrapped an arm around his, and sneered nastily at Yuki.

Yuki gasped in shock as the couple walked out of the class.

“The little bitch…” she snarled, gripping the paperball angrily. “Gah! I hate people like that.”

---

“Hahaha! Did you see her face? It was hilarious!” Yatrina giggled, letting go of her friend’s arm. Shinta sighed and shook his head, smiling.

“Yeah, that never fails,” he said. It was true; the way he and Yatrina acted like a couple in school would deride any girl from asking him out. He had to admit, it was hilarious, but he didn’t like how Yatrina would slither her arms around him as if she owned him or something. Then again, wasn’t he already owned by—?

He snapped out of his thoughts when Yatrina said, “I’m going to my cooking class, ok?” Shinta nodded his head; then Yatrina continued, “And do stay out of trouble, please?” She winked and disappeared off in the mass of hurrying students. Shinta suddenly felt very alone…and vulnerable. His best friends would always protect him from girls, and now that they were gone…

“Oh boy, I’m just a dead man walking,” he muttered to himself; he would love to make himself plain and ugly like the other boys in this school, but one person would not approve of that. Said person would scold him for it, and he didn’t like that anyway. He trudged his way over to his English class and lazily sat down, staring at the board with worried eyes. He looked at his watch and wished that lunch would come sooner, so he didn’t have to deal with all these people.

As he waited for the English teacher to come in, the same girl earlier walked into the classroom. Now that he had a closer look, her black hair was very short, and she had bangs. Her black eyes were narrowed, expressing her mischievous countenance. She was…slightly chubby, something that the other girls frowned at since most of the females in this school were shallow, sort of like Yatrina to an extent. The difference between Yatrina and those girls were that, Yatrina oozed beauty, while those other females had to work for it. Wait. Was that a difference at all?

Oh well, Shinta thought, staring at Yuki as she practically bounced her way over the seat next to him and sat down. The English teacher finally arrived, and this one, Shinta noticed, was old, and seemed cranky. Oh man… Not another one! The strange red-haired teacher was enough, and he didn’t need this woman picking on him too!

The white-haired teacher spoke in a whispering tone, “My name is Barbara Nell, and we’ll go over some grammar basics. So I suggest you students should take out your books and start taking notes.” She flashed a very weak smile, causing Shinta to narrow his eyebrows in confusion.

Nice teacher, I guess? he inquired mentally. Yuki tapped him on his right hand, and he turned around, facing her. “What is it?”

Yuki beamed and held out her tanned hand. “Friends?”

Shinta stared at it was if it was poison. “Why?” he questioned haughtily.

Yuki frowned, and then snorted. “So that bitch over there influenced you? You look and sound like a jerk, dude.”

Shinta sighed and muttered darkly, “So my reputation precedes me, then?”

Yuki nodded her head cheerfully. “But counting from that gloomy expression on your face, you don’t want to be judged like that, huh? I bet you got irritated by those drooling girls over there.” She pointed at the girls at the back of the class, whom were giving him hungry looks. Shinta immediately shivered, and agreed with her. “Hehe, I’ll take back what I said earlier. Looks like you need a real friend.”

Shinta sighed in relief and took her hand, shaking it. “Yeah, thanks.”

“No problem. Just… don’t make me friends with your girlfriend. She has a nasty reputation around the females.”

He had to laugh at that because it was true. “Yeah, I know, but I think she’s ok. She may be a little shallow, but she’s all right.”

Yuki coughed, and had the urge to scream, “Oh my god, what the fuck?!”, but she settled with, “A little? Have you seen the way she walks? It’s like she owns the school or something! Very big ego if you ask me.”

“Well, I never asked you,” Shinta retorted; he didn’t like the way people bullshitted any of his friends right in front of him. Yuki seemed hurt, and offended; Shinta had to smirk at that. “Look, if you’re going to talk shit about her, don’t do it in front of me. Sure, she may have some issues, but that’s how it is with everyone anyway.”

Yuki was taken back; how could the other boy defend his not-so friendly friends? From what she had heard, Katsu was a nasty gang leader, determined to cause terror everywhere. Hell, his glowing crimson eyes just asked for trouble, and Yatrina… Even though she was one of the prettiest girls around, was just nasty as well. And Shinta? What had she heard about Shinta? People had said those two beings were misleading him.

“I see,” she murmured sadly. Her other friends had hoped for her to pull Shinta away from these two bad people since he seemed to need it. “I’m…sorry.”

“Damn right, you should be sorry.” He took an intake of breath, and tried to calm himself down. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, and… He focused on Mrs. Nell, who everyone had been ignoring for the rest of the class period. …one. Poor woman. Everyone’s taking advantage of her already. He glanced at his notes, and he realized that he was far behind. He gritted his teeth, and decided to copy all the notes down from the board.

---

Fierce blue eyes glared at the students in dislike, well one student in particular, Katsu Kyoru, one of the toughest students the history teacher, Trisha Chism, has ever faced. She was one of the toughest teachers around as well, and so it looked like she found her match. She pursed her red lips, fixed her black bun, and then glared at him again.

The boy returned it, matching hers. I dare you to pick on me, bitch. I didn’t do shit to you. his stare seemed to say.

Mrs. Chism smirked and waited for the other students to enter her classroom. A couple of them finally arrived, and one of them caused the glaring contest to cease. Katsu’s eyes suddenly softened at the sight of Shinta, and he immediately invited Shinta to the seat next to him.

Shinta looked grateful, and he hurried his way over to him. He whispered, “Looks like that teacher doesn’t like you, huh? You know, Mr. Kavan seems to hate me too.”

“That bastard hates everyone,” Katsu said aloud, crimson eyes narrowed. “I had him earlier, and he was just…glaring at me. What the fuck is that guy’s fucking problem?”

Shinta sniggered; Mrs. Chism turned her frightening eyes at Katsu, who rolled his eyes, and said, “I attempt not to cuss again, but I’m just tired of that hypocritical shit, ya know? I mean, teachers cuss like hell later on, so I don’t get why they’re telling students not to cuss.”

“Have manners, Katsu. That’s why you shouldn’t curse here,” Mrs. Chism answered, her voice was monotone. Katsu snorted at the stupidity of it, and ignored her. The teacher started with warm ups on the board, regarding the history of the US, and students began to take notes like other classes. Shinta didn’t find this interesting honestly, but he knew that with Katsu, things were going to be interesting soon.

Thirty minutes had passed. Mrs. Chism seemed to have this strange power over everyone, hence the reason they were paying attention to her, even Katsu, but Shinta figured that his best friend would really pay attention to things if they amuse him. Katsu commenced passing notes to his other gang buddies, who were strangely in the same classroom as he was. They shared a mischievous laugh, and Shinta already knew that trouble was about to begin.

It started out with an impetuous comment. “Hey, Mrs. C.,” one of his buddies called out, leaning against the chair lazily, black eyes wide as if he was on drugs, which was probably true anyway. “What’s your nationality?” Katsu and his friends started to snigger again, sharing that same smirk. “Ya look like a Filipino from your black hair.”

Shinta warned him, “Nish…”

The boy called Nish smirked and continued, “Yeah, I heard that Filipinos were just fucking racists.”

“Where did you hear that?” Mrs. Chism fumed, her icy eyes were on the blond, as if trying to burn him off. Nish looked down in mock-shame, and murmured in a soft voice, “From everyone.” The History teacher sighed and stomped her way over to his seat, which was on the right side of the classroom, where you could see the windows and the scenery of autumn outside.

Katsu took that to his advantage and sneaked his way over to the teacher’s desk. He put several things inside the drawers and placed something on the teacher’s plushy chair. Then he made his way back to his seat and smiled mysteriously. The girls around him just gasped with each other and commenced to gossip. Katsu crossed his arms and waited for Mrs. Chism to return to her seat.

When she was done scolding Nish, she went to her desk and sat down calmly.

Strangely, nothing happened.

Katsu cocked his head to the side and wondered, What the hell’s going on? Why is it not working?

Mrs. Chism smiled and revealed the woopy cushion, shocking all of Katsu’s friends, except himself. The red eyed student returned the smile, his eyes glinting dangerously. So your reputation really precedes you then, heh. More fun for me. She also took out the things from her drawer and dropped them to the nearest trashcan, causing the Scorpion gang to groan.

“Ha! Detention for all of you!” She pointed at Katsu’s friends and himself. She assumed that Shinta was a part of it so she pointed at him too. The blue-eyed boy was about to protest, but she silenced him with her fierce stare.

Man, why are all the teachers bitchy these days? Shinta thought, glowering at her. He couldn’t believe that the first day of school he already had detention with this blue-eyed hag. Hmm, it was strange that she even had the same eye color as him, and the black hair…Not many people had those traits together… He suddenly paled. No, it can’t be. She’s been teaching ever since last year—I can’t believe I noticed this just now!

“Aunty…?” he inquired, making his classmates’ heads to turn on him. He laughed nervously and held out his hand jokingly. “I’m just playing, man.” The students chuckled with him and then went back to what they were doing, which was watching Mrs. Chism. Katsu glanced at him questionably, and Shinta shrugged.

He hated how time passed by so slowly, but when class was over, Mrs. Chism pulled him away from his classmates, and closed the door. She stood in front of him, and crossed her arms worriedly.

“I’m not your Aunty, Shinta,” she said softly; she toyed with her bun again, and her black hair finally loosened. “I’m your older sister.”

“…Why didn’t I notice you before last year?” Shinta inquired, suddenly excited. His sister was older than him by about ten years, and her occupation was a police detective. However, Shinta didn’t expect her to show up here, and he had to ask her about that.

Trisha chuckled lightheartedly and patted his head. “It’s because you didn’t see me last year, but,” she paused and gave him a hug, her blue eyes narrowed with worry again. “you can’t go off telling my real identity all right? I’m here on a mission; someone’s been selling drugs secretively in this school, and last year, I’ve been trying to figure out who. I’m guessing it’s one of the teachers here, which is why I chose this occupation.”

“I see… Hey, no wonder you sounded too excited about detention….about that, do I still have to go there?” he inquired; hopefully since this was his older sister, he could perhaps…slip, but Trisha shook her head and tsked.

“Nope. You don’t get special treatments from me, little bro,” she answered, sitting down on her plushy chair. “By the way, that friend of yours, Katsu Kyoru? That guy’s just asking for trouble.”

Shinta looked at the floor in shame. “Yeah, I know, but he’s just testing you,” He paused for his sister’s reaction, which was a “Huh?”, and he continued, now staring at his hands instead. “You see, he has this…habit that if you’re a good teacher, he’ll leave you alone, but if you aren’t, he’ll make your life hell. That only applies to high school though, so he started doing that last year.”

“Sounds like a very odd student,” she commented, erasing her board; it seemed like she had been doing it for years, since she already knew what kind of things really stick to the board and such. The smaller of the two laughed and muttered, his eyes suddenly filled with sadness.

“Yeah, he is. Well, I’m going to go now. I won’t tell anyone about your…identity.” He bowed mockingly, caused his sister to chuckle, and excused himself, exiting the classroom. He bumped into Katsu, who suddenly wrapped his arms around Shinta to keep him from falling to the ground. “Aaaaaaaaah!” he yelled in embarrassment, flushing. He stood up on his feet, and sulked, glaring at his best friend. “Man, how long have you been standing there?”

The other boy gazed at his palm, and then gazed at him, crimson eyes flaring. “Oh…just…the whole damn twenty minutes, waiting for your ass.” He smirked at the blue-eyed boy who gaped in shock.

“Holy shit, so you heard everything?

“Everything? Well, I heard about your teacher and yourself talking about me, which pissed me off. What’s with that? Taking the teacher’s sides?” Katsu inquired, amusedly, but his crimson eyes revealed something else.

Was it hurt that Shinta had seen there? Perhaps even anger? He suddenly felt guilty; he should have known better than to tell his sister about his best friend, and besides, she was probably attempting to get information out of him too, regarding the people in the school. He snapped out of his thoughts when Katsu cupped his cheek.

“Hey, are you all right?” he questioned, concerned.

Shinta laughed; he seemed to do that a lot lately, even at home and last summer. He wondered if his own laughter was fake or not. “I’m all right. I’m in nobody’s side but yours, Katsu.” Whether I like it or not, really. But that’s ok, because you never hurt me. “Let’s just go to lunch, ok? I’m meeting with Yatrina, and you can come with me, if you want.” Then again, you have other friends to hang out with… He smiled brightly and held out his hand.

Katsu stared at his friend’s hand for a moment, pondering. He could almost guess what his friend was thinking, since they knew each other for a long time. He grinned and slapped Shinta’s hand, one of their friendly hand signs. The two exited the building, and headed towards the cafeteria. Outside the school was a much more cheerful place, because the sun was out, the sky was blue, and the temperature was just right. At the back of the school, there was a park, where everyone was hanging out especially at lunchtime.

Yatrina was there with her girl friends, waiting for Shinta. Yatrina took out a small, black blanket from her backpack and let it land on the grass softly. She sat there calmly, her palms on her kneecaps, as if she was meditating. One of her friends, another blond girl named Sabrina rummaged through her own backpack for her MP3 player. She smiled when she found it, and handed it to Yatrina.

“Where is Shinta?” Yatrina questioned to herself, putting a hiphop CD inside the MP3 player. The music streamed across her ears, supposedly calming her down, but it made her worry. What if something happened to her boyfriend? “He should be here right now.”

“Don’t worry so much. Your boyfriend will be here, as always!” Sabrina giggled, looking at the trees above them. The trees gave them shade from the sun, so the air was cool here. Yatrina’s other friends started talking about boys as usual, about how cute they were, and how they wanted to ask some of them out… Yatrina would indulge in these conversations too, because she loved to talk about them, but something today was really off.

Suddenly, Shinta appeared in her vision.

Her heart stopped for a moment, admiring the blue-eyed boy. It was true that she also admired another man, Mr. Nazuli, the orchestra teacher, and she was finally going to tell her feelings for him later. Still, that didn’t mean she couldn’t let her eyes wander right? Shinta to her was… an interesting boy, and he was handsome enough. He was casual and caring, but also had a bad temper, and was sometimes emotional. She was about to sigh in relief when another figure appeared in her vision.

Katsu Kyoru.

Just hearing his name made her sick to her stomach.

Now, it wasn’t as if she didn’t like him, she thought he was an okay guy, but she didn’t like what he did with his gang, because not only they were dangerous, but completely against her morals. Plus, the guy was bi, and again, she had nothing against gays or bis, it was just…

“Yatrina!” Shinta yelled out, walking his way over to her. “How’s your day so far?”

“It was fiiiine, except that there’s a rumor going around that this girl name Yuki wanted to ask you out,” she answered, chuckling. She stood up, and held out her arms, expecting him to hug her to continuously prove to her girlfriends that he was her boyfriend. However, he didn’t budge.

The girls were watching her now, and she hated being pressured like this. Come on, Shinta, just do one more act for me, please? Just one more… She sighed mentally in relief when he hugged her, and rubbed her back, easing her worries about her reputation. Her friends smiled; some even said, “Awww” and then they laughed.

Katsu leaned against the tree, looking smug, gloomy, and handsome all at once. “When is the act going to drop?” he inquired, laughing to himself.

Shinta and Yatrina both flinched.

Yatrina glared at him. What are you doing? Stop blowing our cover!

Katsu ignored the glare, and smiled. I’m not…I just find it really amusing.

“What are we? Amusement for you?!!” she burst out angrily, her hands balled into fists. Shinta sighed deeply and sweat dropped. Here we go again.

“ I am so SICK and TIRED of your stupid taunts, Katsu! You better drop that or else!” she warned him, pointing her index finger at him threateningly. Katsu grinned again, and began walking away, causing her female friends to sigh. “Ugggggh!!” She stomped her foot in frustration, and accidentally dropped the MP3 player to the ground. “Oh my god.” She noticed it, and scrambled for it, looking at Sabrina. “I’m sorry. I just…I couldn’t…”

Sabrina flashed a grin. “That’s fine with me. I knew you were mad. He’s still your friend though, something I never did get.”

“Oh,” Yatrina waved her hand dismissively. “He’s always like that, but sometimes he’s just too much.” And if he doesn’t keep his mouth shut, I’m screwed. Shinta and I are screwed. She turned to Shinta, who was eating his lunch slowly, gazing at the diminishing form of Katsu. “Shinta? Love, eat your food. I’m pretty sure he’s fine and just joking around as usual.”

Shinta winced at that word. Love? I’m not your Love. Can we stop this act? Can we drop it? We’ve been at this for so many years, and at first, it was supposed to be for me to stop those girls, but now… “Yeah, yeah, sure,” he answered, looking at his plate of chicken.

“Shintaaaaa!! Shintaaaaaaa!” Yuki shouted happily, sprinting her way over to the park, her black skirt billowing in the air. Yatrina’s group gasped in shock, and stared at Shinta sternly. Shinta paled, eyes widened in surprise, and Yatrina suddenly burned, her emerald eyes bright with fire. When Yuki noticed that Shinta was with Yatrina, she stopped.

She actually thought he wasn’t going to hang out with Yatrina today, since the popular bitch was too busy with her own friends, but then she realized that Yatrina had even dragged Shinta into her friends! Oh! How selfish and rude and pathetic! Yuki just hated people like her; they were such lowly and disgusting, tainted women!

“You again,” the emerald-eyed teen stated, her tone was rigid. She crossed her arms, and hmm’ped loudly. “What makes you think you can take MY Shinta away from me? We’ve been together for years!

Yuki retorted, “Right! You’re just using him like all the other boys!”

Yeah, I agree with her…for once, Shinta ruminated, now annoyed. Maybe he should just walk away and join Katsu and his gang, friend-wise though, because he didn’t want to get involve in their activities, no matter how amusing they sounded to him. He was about to do that, stepping away from the girls when Yatrina continued her speech of doom.

“See, watch. Shinta, “ She paused, gesturing her hands for him to come to her. What the hell was he? Her dog? “kiss me.”

What…the…fuck?!!! Shinta screamed in his mind; his temper went up again. Now he had a different urge, to suddenly scream at her for even suggesting that dim-witted action. However, he pondered about it, thinking how his lips like would be on hers, and he suddenly received a disturbing memory of his own experience with kissing.

He could remember them so clearly…

Demanding lips would lock against his own in passion, and afterwards his lips would be bruised and swollen. Even though he felt guilty for it, he enjoyed them. Could he kiss Yatrina the same way? With these bruised and tainted lips of his? She would know that he wasn’t new into kissing, if he did kiss her… And he couldn’t allow her to know, even though he had a feeling that she had already knew his strange relationship with—

“Why don’t you two bitches shut the fuck up?!” he yelled at them, his eyes were cold like his sister’s. He stomped away angrily, leaving the others behind as they gasped in shock again. He hung his head, looking at the ground, trying to calm himself down; because of that, he didn’t know where he was going, and he bumped into Katsu.

Where the hell did Katsu come from anyway?

“Whoa, you should watch where you’re going, man,” he said, pulling Shinta back on his feet.

Shinta couldn’t believe it; this was the third time today that Katsu helped him to stand up. “Thanks again, I owe you,” Shinta smiled.

“Oh yes you do,” Katsu smirked, ruffling his hair fondly. “Many things you owe me that you’ll hopefully pay back.”

Shinta gulped, and began that nervous laugh again. Something in him twisted in sick dread and excitement simultaneously. “Hehehe, right. You and your gang dealings. Funny.” He sighed exasperatedly and pointed at the two squabbling girls. “But can you please do me one more favor? Educate these two girls, please?”

The bell rang, and he made his way over to his orchestra class. All the students did the same, except for three people: Yuki, Yatrina and Katsu. Katsu sat on the ground, sighed deeply, and stared at the two suddenly nervous girls.

“All right, who started the fucking shit?” he barked at them, narrowing his eyes dangerously. “See, this is why I hate some girls, you know. They always bitch and bitch about one guy or another, when the guy doesn’t even belong to her,” he continued. He was suddenly bitter, pissed off and angry, but only his crude words and his eyes expressed that.

Yuki and Yatrina stayed quiet, almost afraid of him.

“Yeah, I know about how you girls talk about Shinta as if he’s some fucking meat to be tossed over. You better stop that,” he winked at the blond, who flinched because he had just used her own words against her, thus creating such cruel irony. “or else.” What he meant by those words was that, he would probably sick his gang on these two, and never mind the fact that they were females; no one should suffer because of sexual harassment from girls like Yatrina…

Yuki had enough courage in her big heart to stutter, “It’s not that I want him like that, but I’m trying to get him away from Ms. Evil right here!” She pointed her finger at the other girl, who mock-gasped.

“Oooooh, so just because I have Shinta as a boyfriend, that makes me evil?” she inquired, planting her hands on her hips. “Well, aren’t you such a hypocrite. I think Shinta would rather be with me than you anyway. You’re so fat, and ugly and just stupid.”

Yuki fumed. “Says the shallow one!”

Katsu scratched his head. I’m wasting my time here. “You know what, neither of you are getting him.” He stood up and began to walk away; he had to go to his English class after all, and he couldn’t believe he wasted his time with these two females. He glanced at them with a silly smile and the two already knew that he was going joke around again. “Besides, his ass is mine.”

They chuckled loudly, and Katsu thought, Laugh at what you can’t have, idiots…

For once, Shinta felt…absolutely happy. Right in front of his eyes was the very class he was waiting for all summer long: Orchestra. Oh, how he loved to play the violin, to test the four strings, and to play vibrato, expressing his talent for Mr. Nazuli...

The room was exactly as he remembered; there were the cellos and the bases on one corner, posters of musicians on the walls, stands all over the place, and a circle of seats, which were occupied by students. The students were chatting quietly to themselves, creating this composed atmosphere. On the board were music notes for the newbies in the class, and next to the board was the music teacher himself.

Shinta couldn’t blame Yatrina for calling the teacher handsome; he was tall, and had black hair reaching down to his back. He wore the same clothes the boys did, accentuating his slim body. Everything about him was graceful, even his deep brown eyes that both would threaten and adore. Ah, the thing with him was that he detested mediocre students, and rumors said that he would smack his or her hand to punish him or her.

He had punished Shinta last year, and Shinta had scars on his fingers to prove it. Despite the rumors, Shinta wasn’t sure if the other students were punished like him; he had the feeling that he was the only one, but he didn’t mind it at all. (Oh, god, he must be insane regarding that.) At some point, he had felt that he deserved it, for failing his teacher, and for being mediocre. However, when he did impress his teacher, Mr. Nazuli would smile that smile that would make his day.

The violin meant everything to him and his teacher too.

Sometimes he wondered about Mr. Nazuli, his idol, and he wondered why Mr. Nazuli had picked him as his favorite student even though he had felt like he failed him. His music teacher had told him that he had potential, talent, and everything Mr. Nazuli ever wanted in a student. This made Shinta proud and for his teacher, and for himself, he would continue holding that title, and playing the violin.

“Shinta,” Mr. Nazuli stated; his voice sounded strict, and even cold, but Shinta smiled and greeted his teacher.

“Kami!” If he had his way he would have hugged Kami right now, but his teacher frowned and lowered his voice.

“You know the rules…” he trailed off; Shinta grinned and bowed.

“I’m sorry. I just…I couldn’t help it! I haven’t seen you in a long time!” He joined his other classmates, and Mr. Nazuli began teaching.

Shinta brightened; he was so glad to be back in here, because this was where he truly belonged…

…with his teacher.

---

The last classes went in a blur; Shinta couldn’t even remember what had happened in there. All he knew was that in Math, there was a nice instructor named Molly Case, and in PE, there was another female teacher named Jessie Morse. Math had been tedious, even though he had it with his new friend, Yuki, and in PE, Yatrina was flirty and grabby as usual. Also, detention with his sister, his best friend and the Scorpion was just boring; he didn’t remember much regarding it.

When he went home, all he did was greet his mom with a tired smile in the kitchen, entered his messy bedroom, and flung himself towards his comfy bed. He did his homework, and took a long nap. He dreamt of his music teacher, playing for him, going around the world for him, all for him. Oh god, he would do anything for him… Hmm, was that a bad thing?

“Mmm…” Shinta murmured, smiling in his sleep, cuddling his fluffy blue blankets. His dreams altered, turning more… seductive and foreign, once again regarding his teacher. He dreamt that they were somewhere in Italy, enjoying the sunset, and what-? What the hell was he doing? He was leaning against Kami, beaming brightly. Then he was taking off Kami’s clothes, piece by piece—

“Gah!” Shinta woke up, his eyes widened in pure shock. He brought his hand to his face, and then raked his hand through his black hair. “What was that…” Him again. I’m just too excited when it comes to him. He sat up, blinking and panicking and sweating. He tried to focus, and in a few minutes, he calmed down. He scratched his head, and looked at his digital watch. “Wow…it’s eight. I might as well eat dinner, and then go back to sleep.”

He stood up, looking around his room for a moment. On the walls were awards that he had won in various music competitions, and next to his bed was the laptop that his mother had bought for him. The right corner of his bedroom was a tenuous music stand, and his music books. The window of his bedroom was open, the winds coming in, making him shiver. If the window is open, then that means… he trailed off, stepping near the light switch. He flicked it open, dispelling the shadows and revealing his visitor.

“Katsu…” he said quietly, feeling that sick dread again. His best friend had donned himself with baggy pants and dark green shirt, accentuating his boyish features. Katsu grinned in delight, and began stalking him, causing Shinta to step back to his bed.

“So you go on living in your darkness…” he trailed off, crimson eyes glinting dangerously. His figure loomed over Shinta, and then he leaned closer to his prey, smirking. He let his hand caress Shinta’s cheek gently, and that hand began trailing down to his chest. “That dark depth, that depth…You decided in your life to take that path.” He kissed Shinta’s lips tenderly, whilst his other hand began taking his lover’s clothes off. “Do you regret it?”

Shinta shook his head frantically, breaking the passionate liplock. Good bye dinner, I will miss you! “No…I don’t.” But something in his mind was screaming at him that “Yes! I do regret it! It’s the worst decision that I ever made in my life!”

“Good,” Katsu stated, his voice husky. He glanced at the door, making sure it was locked, and then returned to business. It was always like this; every other night, Katsu would come to him, make love to him, spend time with him, and then leave. It had been that way for a long time, ever since Katsu had asked Shinta that question when they were thirteen-years-old.

“Can you be mine?”

Shinta knew that Katsu had meant that not romantically, but more on the idea that they would always be there for each other, even for relief. They were that close and even Yatrina couldn’t compete with that. No one knew of their…strange relationship, even Kami, because both had vowed to keep this a secret until something horrible happened to one of them.

So he let Katsu dominate him, raining him with kisses and passionate caresses. They both tried not to moan or groan so loud, so they wouldn’t attract attention from Shinta’s family. Katsu rode him, reveling in the experience, and then, it was over. Both boys panted from their exertion, naked bodies slick with sweat. Shinta sighed blissfully, leaning against Katsu.

“Will this ever stop?” he inquired, his body aching. His lover grinned softly.

“If you want to and if you refuse me. It’s all up to you,” Katsu nuzzled against Shinta’s neck, and then kissed his head. “Do you want this to stop?”

Shinta sighed again. “Nah. I don’t want to.” And I don’t know why…I never knew why. To be honest, he was so confused regarding his best friend, because he didn’t know what the hell he felt for Katsu. He guessed that he deeply cared for him, but they didn’t match the feelings he had for his beloved teacher. Still, why did he let Katsu do this to him? He should be ashamed, used, and filthy. But he didn’t; he felt strangely happy when Katsu would make love to him, and this was why he felt so guilty.

Katsu smiled. “Good. By the way, did Yatrina finally tell Mr. Nazuli?”

Shinta snickered. “Nope. She chickened out.”

The taller boy sat up, and groaned. “Aw, man. Then she’ll never leave you,” He paused, looking at his lover affectionately. “alone.”

Shinta snickered again. “Don’t tell me that you’re jealous.”

“Me? Sort of. She’s our friend you know, ever since…forever, but I think she’s getting this weird idea that you’re her bitch. I’ve seen the way she treated you at lunch. That was horrible.” Katsu said solemnly.

Shinta sat up, and put a hand on his lover’s shoulder. “Yeah, but we’re all doing each other favors. She saved me from the wrath of girls, I saved her reputation, and I uh…gave you salvation?” He started to laugh, and Katsu grinned.

“Yeah, I guess you did. You had to step into the darkness though…” the other boy trailed off, quietly. “Sometimes, I wonder if you regretted that…to be mine.”

“No, I never did,” Shinta lied easily. It wasn’t as if he could tell his best friend the truth, that he did want to turn back, because he had the feeling that this was where he had went wrong. After he became Katsu’s, life literally became his hell. In eighth grade, the two had struggled hard, trying not to touch each other in public, or even reveal just how close they were. They had been enemies there, Katsu’s gang being Shinta’s bullies. Then Shinta had met Yatrina, his savior from them, and everything exacerbated.

Shinta had started to drift away from his family, causing his parents to worry. In addition, he didn’t even know where his sister was anymore; he relied a lot on his sister for support, because at that time, he felt that he had no one. However, his life had started to brighten when he met Kami Nazuli in his private lessons. The violin and his teacher were great distractions from everything, and he looked forward to them every week. Then he had learned about Nazuli’s punishments, and then he didn’t know if he was sane anymore.

Even in all this craziness, he felt that Kami was the only one there for him, even though Kami made things worse, physically that was. Last year, he had met Mr. Nazuli again in his new school, and he was forever grateful for that. Of course, the punishments had continued privately, but strangely of him, he even began to enjoy it! Life began to turn once more when Katsu had asked where the scars came from, but Shinta had managed to lie and lie again that they came from random accidents.

“Well, let’s go take a shower!” Katsu suggested, snapping Shinta out of his gloomy musings. Shinta nodded his head and followed his lover to the bathroom. After this, he knew that Katsu would leave him utterly alone, and then he would crawl into his bed, and scream inside for the biggest mistake he had made in his life.

Finished Part I.

----

An: All righty. First off, this was supposed to be a freakin’ one shot, but it didn’t end up that way. This will be the first part out of the three parts. (There should be two more parts after this I think.) Then again, this could just end up as a one shot, and stay that way (to get fics off my back, lol.)…So that depends. Should I continue?

This is really my kind of fic you know, with strange relationships, and gangs (not high school though, I hate school; I tend to not even mention school, regarding fics.). The dialog’s really casual (Different from TnB definitely), and there are females to balance the males in here, so it’s all nice.

It would be nice to get some feedback on this, since this is really one of my better pieces in original fiction. O.O I think.
