It turned out that the new games at the time were too much different for someone like me, who understood the industry, the people, and the history, to not do good if I hadn't played the most recent games.
The whole job wasn't that fulfilling, except for one instant. An older lady was in a wheel chair, which was being pushed by what seemed to be her daughter at son. She came in to the store to buy her grandson (who was also with them) a game. After she bought the game for him, her daughter bought a card game. The daughter showed to her mother and she exclaimed something.
"This has tarot cards!"
Her children looked at her and said, "Huh? What are those?"
She replied, "They let you predict the future..."
"Oh, I see", they said, laughing.
They started to push her wheelchair out of the store, and the old lady kept speaking.
"I can read tarot cards. I used to live with a gypsy. She taught me what all of them meant. I can give readings..."
She continued talking about the gypsy, the cards, and other parts of her past until they were far enough away from the store that I couldn't hear them.
I felt that there was something special about this woman. I was only able to hear just a bit about her life, but I knew that there was more to her than met the eye.
I eventually quit my work at the store when school started up again. I didn't miss much of it, but everytime I think about the good parts, I always think of that woman, and her adventures.
