For the beginning of my one-chapter stories, I'm taking an idea I got from a little anime (trust me, it's the only one I'll ever watch, besides FLCL, GOD I LOVE FLCL) called Paranoia Agent. It was a group of people who met in a suicide chatroom, and they tried many ways to commit suicide. So this story's loosely based off the idea. With a few major changes. Enjoy the attempt, and sorry if it's a little depressing. It's meant to be. Also, I know the ending is rushed, but I want this up as soon as possible so I can go back to the rest of my stuff. And the indentation thing isn't working, so deal with it, fools.

---

"Oh come on... piece of shit..." A young boy was in distress and needed some guidance. He was clinically diagnosed with depression and sought help from a chatroom of people like him. A lot of them gathered in mass suicides, and many new people came each day to share their woes and to receive their punishments.
The boy was a regular for about 3 years now, had 4 failed attempts (2 of were at masses). His parents both committed suicide and left him notes on how to do it, but they were both burned during his first attempt. Hardly any damage.
Finally he's able to log on.

Phoenix: God damnit, my computer gets worse every day. Hopefully by the end of the month I won't be needing it anymore...
Tigress: Oh, hey Phoenix. Organizing another mass?
Phoenix: Yeah. Three's a charm, they say.
Tigress: I'll join. I have nothing better to do tonight.
Kamikaze: First one with Phoen, eh Tig?
Tigress: Yeah. If I'm gonna go down, I might as well go down with a legend.
Phoenix: Ha, I'm hardly a legend. Just cause I've been here for a few years doesn't mean I'm better than all of you.
Kamikaze: But the thing is, you try. You have a legacy. Your parents committed the best known suicides in your town.
Phoenix: They went down in love... Shot themselves through their heads while kissing... That's how I want to die... Even though no one will ever love me.
Tigress: Same here. I'm ugly, and no one's ever liked me...
Kamikaze: I'm sure you're a beautiful girl.
Tigress: You have to see me, then base your opinions. You wanna join?
Kamikaze: Yeah, I guess. When and where?
Phoenix: We'll do it at the place my parents did it.
Tigress: But that's...
Phoenix: Yeah. Tiananmen Square.
Kamikaze: How the hell are we gonna get there?
Phoenix: We'll take a plane. Tomorrow, 7:30 PM. I'll try to get the tix. Try to get a couple more people.
Tigress: You got it, Phoenix.
Phoenix is away - Ordering plane tickets in half an hour, ask Tigress or Kamikaze to join my mass suicide.
Kamikaze: -sigh- Now everyone's away except us.
Lydia has returned.
Lydia: Hey, what'd I miss?
Kamikaze: A legend.
Lydia: Oh my God! Phoenix! I've always wanted to meet him!
Tigress: It's your lucky day, he's organizing a mass suicide.
Lydia: Wow, amazing! I'm in!
Kamikaze: Great, we got another... How many more should we get?
Tigress: One more.
Kamikaze: Hopefully one will come back in that moment of perfect timing like Lydia did.
Lydia: I doubt it. I'm the only person I know who's mastered it.
Tigress: Can't anyone master it? Even someone like Him could master it.
Lydia: But Him is dead, isn't he?
Tigress: Yeah, he finally succeeded. I think it was Phoenix who organized that mass, too.
Kamikaze: You can't be serious. Him was notorious, and Phoenix has seen him?
Tigress: Supposedly, but we won't know until he gets back.
Him has signed on.
Him: Hi everyone.
Kamikaze: ...Him?
Tigress: I thought you died!
Him: Uh... no...
Lydia: Didn't you go to one of Phoenix's mass suicides?
Him: I don't know what you're talking about. I've never been here before.
Tigress: You absolutely sure? Because we're sure you, or someone else named Him committed suicide...
Him: ...Oh, I know who you mean. I was in love with her...
Lydia: Him was a girl?
Kamikaze: You can't trust anyone with the name Him...
Him: I swear to God you can trust me.
Tigress: That's what "she" said when "she" first came to this room.
Him: You didn't trust her?
Kamikaze: Who could? "She" was a horrible person!
Phoenix has returned.
Phoenix: Get out of here, Jenny. You can't fool anyone.
Him: You little son of a bitch...
Him has left.
Lydia: So she WAS a girl...
Phoenix: Yeah. At my first mass suicide, before I became famous for failing, she was interested in me, more shit happened and she paid someone to come on and tell everyone she was dead, without revealing her true gender.
Tigress: That's... disturbing...
Phoenix: Yeah. So... Lydia... You joining in?
Lydia: Yes, I'd love to.
Phoenix: Alright. So that's 4 people.
Kamikaze: We all seem so happy about this, but in the end we're all just gonna die...
Phoenix: Yeah, but you'll all have gone down with a legend. You should be happy about it.
Tigress: We should meet up tonight, maybe stay the night somewhere and prepare...
Lydia: Yeah, I guess we should. I'd really like to see Phoenix in person...
Phoenix: Everyone does, everyone does.
Kamikaze: Hey, you guys know where the Vinsfield Mall is?
Phoenix: Yeah, I go there all the time.
Lydia: So do I.
Tigress: I've been there a few times.
Kamikaze: Let's all meet there. Parking lot, right now.
Phoenix: Sounds good. I'll be there.
Phoenix has left.

"Phoenix" donned his suicide apparel: Solid white hooded sweatshirt, black chains, long white shorts with black flame designs, white/black Converse shoes (a design he made himself), and a wide assortment of bloody knives used for the process itself. He also grabbed his lucky charm: The gun used by his parents for their suicide. He also grabbed the permit given to him so it'd be possible to take on the plane. He set out for Vinsfield Mall.
He was the first one to the parking lot. After 10 minutes he noticed a small group forming in the distance. He walked over.

"Who's that?" One of the girls noticed Phoenix walking towards them. "Is that... Phoenix?"
"He suits his description. Long, flowing black hair, white clothing, chains..." said the other girl. "But his age is a bit off... Thought he was older..." Phoenix approached.
"Shit, I feel so young..." Phoenix thought, but he disregarded it.
"Hi... uh... Phoenix..." said the boy.
"Hey. Kama, Tig, Lyd." said Phoenix.
"Thought you were older, Phoen," said the boy (Kamikaze), "Around 16 or 17."
"No, only 15."
"So you lied to us?" asked one of the girls (Tigress).
"I never told you my age, but nice assumption."
"Someone in the room told us you were 17..." remarked the other girl (Lydia).
"They lied. I never told anyone my age. How old are you guys, anyway?"
"16." "19." "15 as well."
"Well, we're certainly a diverse group. Good to know someone my age is here as well," Phoenix looked at Lydia as he spoke. Lydia blushed.
"We should find a hotel or something. I brought my laptop just in case we want to recruit another person..." said Kamikaze.
"Yeah, we should. There's a cheap hotel near my house. We can stay there," said Phoenix, "Only two beds per room, though..."
"We can share the beds, can't we?" asked Lydia, a bit rushed.
"Well, I suppose we can..."
"That's great!" She was a little overexcited, but no one seemed to notice. A 5 second silence ensued, but itwas eventuallybroken by Tigress.
"We should tell eachother our real names. It feels kinda weird referring to ourselves as our chatroom names," she said.
"Well, I'm still Phoenix then," said Phoenix, "It's my middle name, but my parents always used it. It kinda stuck."
"I'm still Lydia," said Lydia.
"Zach," said Kamikaze/Zach.
"And finally me, Samantha. Just call me Sam," said Tigress/Sam.
"Alright. Let's find that hotel," said Phoenix, and they set off.
Height in the group wasn't extremely varied, despite the age differences. The tallest was, not surprisingly, the oldest, Sam, though she was only a couple inches taller than Zach and Phoenix. Lydia was the shortest, about a half-foot shorter than Sam. They shared more of their interests while walking to the hotel.
"Hey, anyone bring money?" asked Zach.
"Yeah, I figured we would be staying here, so I brought enough for a room," said Phoenix.
"Good thinking, good thinking," said Lydia.
"I've stayed here more often than I've stayed at home, actually. I'm basically living here," Phoenix spotted the hotel in the distance, "There it is."
They entered the hotel to find it surprisingly crowded.
"'Ey, Phil!" yelled Phoenix over all the noise, "I'm here for another room!"
"Ah, been expecting you, Phoen. Got a posse with ya, too?" remarked Phil, the hotel manager.
"Yeah."
"They bring money?"
"No, I got them covered."
"Don't worry about it, Phoen. The night's on me."
"Thanks, Phil!"
"Anytime, Phoen... Though if you succeed, it won't be anytime," Phil led them to an empty room.
"Why's it so crowded?" asked Sam.
"Free drink night. It's more of a scam than a promise in my opinion, but it's been running for a while. More people come for the free drinks and buy more rooms, giving us more money than we'd normally get," replied Phil, "Anyway, here's yer room. Have a nice stay."
It was the same room Phoenix always got. 2 beds, 1 bath. Probably the nicest room in the hotel, saved for VIPs like Phoenix. It was always clean, even after Phoenix lodges there. A very nice place, even for a rundown hotel.
"So... who's sharing with who?" Phoenix asked immediately, shocking everyone.
"Uh... Think it should be guy-guy and girl-girl?" suggested Sam.
"I find that kinda odd... We should do it by age group," piped up Lydia. "So I'll go with Phoenix, and Sam will go with Zach."
"Okay then..." said Zach.
"So it's decided!" shouted Lydia a bit excitedly.
"...Um... Okay," said Phoenix. He went over to the window and sat on the windowsill, staring out the window. Sam and Zach got into bed, cautious of where they placed themselves.
Lydia sat on the bed, mumbling something to herself. Phoenix heard some of this and looked over. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing... nothing..." Lydia mumbled, looking away from Phoenix.
"Come on, you can tell me... You can tell me anything..."
"It's nothing, really..."
"It's always something... Everyone does this, they act suspicious, then never reveal anything. It's so typical. And they always do it to me. Just tell me."
"...It involves you, is that enough?"
"I... Guess... So that's why you're excited about sharing a bed with me..." Phoenix walked over to her and laid on the bed.
"...Yeah..." Lydia laid down next to him.
"We should get to sleep. Tomorrow's a big day... The biggest day of our miserable lives..." Phoenix turned away and fell asleep almost immediately. Only Lydia remained awake.
"The biggest day..." She repeated Phoenix's line a few times, then laid next to Phoenix, wrapping her arms around him...

Phoenix was the first one up. He noticed Lydia was holding onto him, "God that girl's crazy..." He slowly got out of bed as to not disturb anyone else, and took his place on the windowsill, staring at what could possibly be the last time in this town, let alone country or continent.
"Phoenix?" Zach woke up and noticed him sitting there, staring out the window once again.
"It's our last day here..." Phoenix looked over at the clock. 7:19 AM. "Wake everyone up. Our flight leaves at 8:30."
"8:30!?"
"Yeah. I got early tickets. The flight's long, we need a lot of time.
"But you could've gotten them at night and we could've slept through it...
"God damn, you're right. Oh well, too late to change now." Phoenix walked over to his and Lydia's bed, laying back down. "Wake up, Lydia..." he said softly. Lydia opened her eyes slowly, and smiled. Zach violently shook Sam, waking her up immediately.
"Real smooth, Zach," said Sam, rubbing her head.
"Alright everyone. Flight's at 8:30. Don't complain. Seriously. Just get ready and let's go," Phoenix briefed. "I got a car back home. We can travel in style."
"...Al...right then..." Everyone lazily got out of bed and got dressed again, still lazily. They got out of the hotel and back to Phoenix's house in record time.
"This is my house. We'll never see it again," noted Phoenix. Everyone stared at him blankly. "Just wanted to mention that. Let's go die now." Phoenix got in the car while everyone was still going "What the fuck is his problem?"
No one talked until they arrived at the airport, which was only a few minutes away. Especially if you're driving fast, like Phoenix. They arrived just in time to catch their flight.
"'Ey, Phoenix, you sure they're gonna let you on with all the knives?" asked Lydia, a bit intrigued.
"I'm not sure... When the police returned my parents' gun to me, they gave me a permit allowing me to carry it wherever I go... I hope it carries over to the knives..." Phoenix sighed, then walked over to the metal detector. He gave the permit to the security guard.
"Ah, feel real sorry for ya, kid," the security guard looked down upon Phoenix with a face full of sorrow, which quickly changed when Phoenix revealed his knives. "What the hell ya bringing those for!?"
"Come on, knives are less dangerous than a gun, and yet you're letting me bringing it aboard..." Phoenix pleaded.
"I'm sorry, I can't let you have those. I'll have to confiscate them."
"No, you can't! They're gifts from my parents!"
"...They are?"
"Yes they are, they gave them to me before they left for China..."
"...I'll let you slide this time. But promise me you won't hold up the plane."
"With a purpose like mine, why would I?" Phoenix and the rest passed through the metal detectors, and boarded the plane, taking seats at the far back.
The plane was silent for about a half hour after they took off. Zach broke the silence.
"So... Phoenix... What's your purpose for actually wanting to die?" he asked, a bit curious about Phoenix's past.
"I keep losing all my family and friends... My parents committed suicide, my best friends OD'd and died, my brother murdered someone and was sentenced to death... It's only natural that I should die along with them... What about the rest of you?"
"Life is short," Sam said, "I'm just making it shorter."
"So you basically have no reason?"
"Not really. I stumbled upon the room accidentally, and once I realized how much other peoples' lives sucked, I figured mine's going to suck as well."
"Ah. What about you, Lydia?"
"I've been used my entire life..." Lydia sighed loudly, then continued, "All my boyfriends basically wanted to rape me... Most of them actually tried... One of them... Oh God..." She leaned over and cried on Phoenix's shoulder.
"...I inquire no further."
"See what I mean!? That's why I want to die!" Sam yelled. The rest of the passengers turned around to look at her. "Her life's been a fucking wreck, your life's been a fucking wreck, I'm sure everyone else's life has been a fucking wreck as well! I should just die right now!" She looked around, grinned, and walked over to the emergency exit. "Sayonara," she said, as she jumped out the plane.
"...Shit..." Phoenix remarked. It was the last word said the entire rest of the flight.

The plane landed in Beijing in the middle of the night. It was now or never. Phoenix, Lydia, and Zach found a map and walked over to Tiananmen Square, Phoenix carrying his gun, Zach and Lydia carrying his knives.
They walked to the dead center of the square: The memorial of Phoenix's parents. Zach took two of the knives and stabbed himself in the chest, killing himself instantaneously.
"Well... I guess... It's only us..." Phoenix said. He removed the knives from Zach and, along with the other knives, decorated them among the memorial. Lydia started crying as she watched, and ran over to Phoenix, embracing him tightly.
"I don't want to die, Phoenix..." she cried, resting her head on his shoulder once again.
"It's the only way to be happy..." he replied, with a calm tone in his voice.
"Phoenix..." Lydia lifted her head and stared deep into Phoenix's eyes, "I love you..."
"Love doesn't mean a thing now, sweet Lydia..." Phoenix pulled the gun from his pocket and placed it at the back of Lydia's head, "But our dreams can always be fulfilled... Rest in peace, my love..." He leaned in and passionately kissed Lydia, and pulled the trigger. The gun fell into place, perfectly aligned with the memorial...
