Judgment Call
--
When Fin and Hannah arrived at the hospital he called Gina right away and told her what had happened. Fin suffered minor injuries but Hannah had entered a coma and there was no guarantee she would be waking up anytime soon.
“Is there anything that can be done?” Gina asked the attending Doctor.
“In both cases you could loose your daughter.” The doctor replied. “I know this won’t help much but in both cases you’ll still have a grandchild.”
“What are the choices?’ Ask Fin.
“We can either deliver the baby right now using surgery or wait 2 days to see if she wakes up.” The Doctor replied. “If you choose to wait, that could further brain damage.”
“Damn…”
“I’ll give you two a few minutes to think about it.”
He then walked back towards Hannah’s room.

“Wait.” Gina said. “We already know…”
“Since the day I met her, I knew that she was destined to see her baby.” Fin Said. “We’re going to wait no matter how long it takes.”
“Alright, I’ll let the Nurse know of your decision.” The doctor replied before walking off.
Fin and Gina stayed at Hannah’s bedside from that moment on. Fin let his superiors at City Year know so they would have someone look after his team until he was able to return.
“Where am I…?”
“You’re going to be ok.” Gina said. “Just rest.”
“What about the baby?”
“He’s going to be fine.” Fin replied.
The doctors couldn’t believe she’d pulled through. They’d never expected her to recover at all. She gave birth to a son soon after awakening. She named him after her adopted grandfather, Ted Toss III.
“I still haven’t figured out how to tell the rest of the family.” Terra said at the airport a week later.
“We’ll do it.” Said Fin. “Until then don’t say anything.”
“That’s fine.” She replied. “I’ll see you all in Boston, then!”
As they drove home, the 3 of them thought about all the things that had happened to them over the past few weeks. Just like that they had found each other and became a family. They all knew that they would face what life had prepared for them together.
“You know Hannah, there’s something I wanted to tell you and Fin.” Gina said as they drove home.
“What’s that?” she asked.
“While we were in the Hospital I found out something amazing.” She replied. “I’m going to have a baby!”
“That’s something to celebrate!” Fin replied. “That makes things all the more nicer.”

“Wait.” Fin said. “I…think we know what’s best.”
“Hannah has been dealing with depression for the past few days.” Gina explained. “After what Fin told me when they were on the bridge I’m sure of it.”
“Get the baby out of her as quickly as possible.” Fin said. “If you can save her afterwards, please do.”
“Right away.” The doctor replied before getting a room ready.
After he’d left the two broke down in tears. They knew Hannah was going to die. They would raise her child as their own. When they went to Boston for the holidays it would be a bit easier to explain to Ted and Ann where the young couple’s “son” had come from.
In only a few minutes the baby was born and was perfectly healthy. Soon afterwards, Hannah passed away. They were happy with the baby but sad with the loss of its birth mother.
“I will love the baby as if it were my own son.” Gina said.
“I guess you can say that he is now.” Fin replied. “Hannah would have wanted it this way. We’ll give him the life she never had.”
Soon afterwards they took the baby, whom they named Ted Toss III home. They had to plan a funeral and still had to find a way to tell Ted and Ann about the baby when they went to Boston for the Holidays.
“I don’t know how I can explain this to the rest of the family.” Terra said at the Airport a few days after the funeral.
“I’ll do it.” Fin replied. “I’m the one who started it so it would only be right that I told them myself.”
“I understand.” Terra replied. “Hannah was a good person. I’ll look forward to seeing you again in Boston.”
As the two of them drove home, they couldn’t help but wonder if Hannah had planned for them to have her baby. The couple wanted to have children of their own but with the one they got from their adopted daughter they could wait.
“You know Fin, there was something else I wanted to tell you.” Gina said as the drove home.
“Really, what is it?” He asked.
“I’m pregnant.” She replied. “I planned to tell you when we were in Boston but now seems like a better moment.”
“Taking care of two babies is going to be tough.” Fin replied. “I still wonder how my own mom did it with me and Katrin.”
“I guess we’ll find out together, then.” Gina replied.

That’s the end of the story. Which do YOU think is the true ending? I’ll leave you, the reader to speculate because the true ending won’t be revealed until the end of the fic I am doing with Ann and Ted. I still have one more fic in Progress entitled Aeris C. Check it out, as when I finish it I will move on to Mark Anthony’s One-Shot Story. I still don’t have a name for Ann and Ted’s story so I will do it last.
