Waterfall

In the middle of a desert
Past the sand
And the dunes

There are cliffs
And canyons
And walls

These rust-colored halls loom high

Their wind-blown desolation offers,
At least,

Cool refuge from the sand biting dunes

But somewhere
Between towering yellow rock

There’s a cool blue pond
Where, even in the desert,
Trees can grow

Two rivers flow to reach this pond
They race each other
Until they spill off the dry cliffs
And arch into their home

They’ve come to see life
In a lifeless hole

How ironic, then
That it is they
Who’ve brought life
