Forever

“take me away,” you told me,

tears in your eyes.

“where do you want to go?”

i ask, as you regain your composure,

put on your disguise.

“far away,” you answer,

“no place in mind”

“then it’s a good thing we have forever,”

i say, “good thing we have all of time.”

we both know they’re lies,

there’s only an hour or so,

but i turn on the engine,

and we’re free to go.

“was it him again?”

i ask as we speed along.

she says nothing, but i know,

it’s the same old song.

“you’re not going back,”

i whisper in my mind.

i’ll keep you if i have to,

until the end of time.

and although it’s a lie,

definitely untrue,

i’ll just pretend,

i have forever with you.

oh, the places we’ll go,

the people we’ll meet,

as we hold hands,

walking down a street.

with me, it will never be

the same old tune,

forever’s far away, darling,

but tomorrow’s real soon.

and if you want,

i’ll spend tomorrow with you,

forever’s far away, darling,

but forever I’ll be with you.

Notes: I think we’ve all known by now that poetry’s not really my thing, but I just can’t seem to stop writing it.
