I am sick of writing pretty things

I am sick of lovely language

sick of words, sick of romance,

sick of writing about

hope love happiness bullshit.

I am sick of clinging to

starry-eyed ideals,

of faith,

of smiling through

gritted teeth;

I am sick of forgiving this

goddamned place

when it should be begging on hands and knees.

I am fucking sick

of the pretense,

the excuses,

of being str

thin

ner

with every

passing breath

I am sick, sick, sick of the dictionary

of the thesaurus

of lips and toungues and

mouthfuls of

glistening teeth

I am sick of speaking

I am sick of poetry

and poetics

and especially poets

I am sick of ink

shaped into sugary words

dripping

down

the page;

I am sick of

everything

you have to offer.
