ALTERED PERCEPTION

You hurt

You ache

You say you’re ugly

You say you’re dumb

But I say you’re one of a kind

I say you’re great

I don’t understand

We see different images

I see a beautiful rose

You see a sickly weed

But I can’t fix what you see

I explain all your beautiful petals, but all you see are flaws

To me your imperfections are what make you unique

It hurts that I can’t make you see as I see

I want to rip the impermeable veil from your eyes to reveal your

splendor

I just can’t except it

I want to alter your perception

To get inside your head

To shake you up inside

It’s not fair that you can’t see what I see
