Haunted

My love lay by the willow tree

Disturbed the waters with a stone

I thought she'd never leave me

But now lie alone.

She wandered by the river bank,

Humming sweet and smooth,

Her song my restless spirit drank,

And it haunted all my moods.

I sense her still on summer eves,

I see her image in the rain,

She calls my name from lonely leaves

So I might smile again.

Her song still echoes through dell and wood,

I hear it soflty on the breeze,

When at night i sit and brood,

And linger in the trees.

My love still lies by willow tree,

Though the waters calm as glass,

Such places are so dear to me

Where her footsteps led her past.
