The raindrops they fall

And I can’t see anymore

The havens open

And what comes out is red

The copper is all I smell

The screams are all I hear

Red is all I do not see

‘Cause I can’t see anymore

Their laughing voices

The smell of sunshine

Her smiling face

I reach out to them

But I can’t see anymore

As the years go by

Her face fades

It blurs and is gone away

That boy of light

Whom she once loved

Full of faith and fair of face

He is no more

And I can’t see anymore

The red stains me

I don’t see it

The screams don’t pain me

I can’t hear it

The smell that choked me

Has disappeared

For I don’t hear or smell or breathe anymore

This world of pain

Has blinded me

Confused me

And left me empty

I stand in the middle

What was green gone

Now all is brown

But I don’t know it

Then the mist clears

The rain stops

The sun comes out

And I see her again

Her face is changed

Her smile is gone

Its countenance roughened

Daddy’s girl no more

She looks and smiles

But I can see now

Through her mask

For the darkness is gone

I draw her close

To find her the same

As she looks at me

And I find happiness again

The rainbows have come

The elves to play too

Leprechauns dance

As I hold her close

Then the hail comes

And the red too

She is gone now

I will never see again
