Silent Hearts

The sparkling eyes,
Of a tall, young boy,
Follow her around the yard.
His love disguised
With a simple ploy,
Eyes are shaded, expression barred.

The deep blue eyes,
Of the waifish girl,
Trace along the silken lawn.
Her stomach tied,
He is her world.
Eyes are closed, emotions torn.

It may seem sad
That their silent hearts
Will not ever get to show.
But some are glad
For to stay apart,
Means the other can’t say no.
