After A Starlit Serenade

The saddened echoes cease,

As the last of the night fades

Into dust and sunlight pouring

Silently from the tips of leaves.

Aclock chimes

And with it comes a promise of a day

Warm and cautious that beckons

Of something deeper than stone.

Heavy with the need of touch

Sunlight burns like fire and through

The trees a bird calls out

Voice ringing in the air.

A headache and a song-

All that remains.

My memory lies shattered on this bed

So calm from where you once slept

And sleep no more
