Tears

Arid sand blown by sorrowful breath

Scattered ruins of what once there stood

Forlone and abandoned in its death

Demolished tear of what was good

Mournful echo in desolate land

Calling grief to echo loss of life

Grabbing at the shifting grains of sand

Failure cutting in like a knife

Arid desert welcomes the dew

Of bitter sorrow torn asunder

Echoes of despair begins anew

An empty soul to now plunder

Bitterness seeps into dry dust

Salty rain upon dead earth and strife

Untouched sorrow will fester and rust

Lose all hope of regaining life

Drops aggrevates the settled sand

Shifting the pattern that was once stale

Gazing upon ever changing strand

Illusion that all is now frail

Yet from the depth of bitterness

A breath of life and pure hope is born

For from empty painful hopelessness

Strength and dreams of new life is bourne
